And if we're talking about phones aside from just "smart phones", any phone can call emergency services as long as it has battery and signal.
An old flip phone with no SIM/no service would still able to dial 911 which is easily affordable.
As a total "unc", I have to ask what it is about phones that interests people so much to want to have one.
I passionately hate phones and how the world keeps pushing me to use them more with websites saying "use the mobile version". Phones are inefficient and were never meant for internet browsing.

I should be old enough to know that's not the case. I think maybe it just had poor marketing since I don't personally remember seeing a single ad for it or anyone ever talking about it. It came and went, and then it became that weird interesting console in pawn shops but not interesting enough.
People could say all they want how the N64 controller was weird, but this thing just looked alien to me.
I remember thinking the Dreamcast was some kind of predecessor to the N64 when seeing it in stores but I never questioned its existence too much either.
For some reason, even when it was still relatively new and when the Gamecube came out, I always saw the Dreamcast as this already antiquated strange relic of gaming from a world I wasn't part of.
It was something people older than me from the world of people who liked Sonic instead of Mario played.
It doesn't because I wouldn't care to be associated with a gender, but if people want to call it that I wouldn't have much of a strong opinion.
I don't know the labels like "sapphic" or "neptunic" personally.
