Gil Duran tweet: TLDR: Fascism in response to Palantir's long fascists screed on X.
"Your Account is Suspended" Message on X
The CEO of Palantir posted a fascist manifesto on X.
I pointed out that it was fascist—which resulted in a permanent suspension from X (my second time!).
So, when you hear the tweeters complaining that BlueSky is intolerant, remember why many of us came here in the first place.
IDF commanders told Haaretz that southern Lebanon is being demolished “like Gaza.” The declared goal is to prevent civilians from being able to return.
Both are war crimes punishable under international law.

When you use AI to do your writing, you are telling your audience: “I deserve your attention, but you do not deserve my effort.”
Just a professor standing in front of BlueSky demoralized because exams my students used to get a mean of 83% on prior to 2020 are now failed in large numbers. It seems that their ability to APPLY concepts to new contexts/domains has all but disappeared.
I love these students & I am worried.
Photo I took of these wonderful people (the faces of whom I’ve blacked out) singing happy Birthday to their lovely old dog at a bar I was at tonight in Portland
I was at a dog-friendly bar in NW Portland tonight and a table behind me started singing Happy Birthday and then I realized it wasn’t for a person but a really old dog who was wearing a crown and he was old and fucking adorable and I love this city
Barrera said her husband said the smell of human feces in the toilet caused a fellow detainee to vomit and, in turn, created a chain of people vomiting. She said her husband is asthmatic and has not received medication to treat his condition. The lack of medicine and the stress of the overcrowded holding cell has left him short of breath and teetering on the edge of an asthma attack, Barrera said. ICE did not immediately respond to questions on April 10 about the conditions of the Mesa or Phoenix facilities. After the publication of this article, Barrera told The Arizona Republic her husband was transferred to the ICE facility at San Luis Regional Detention Center at about midnight. The San Luis Regional Detention Center is in Southwestern Arizona and has the capacity to hold 700 people.
This is horrific. A U.S. citizen describes the facility in Arizona that her husband was brought to while he waited to be put on a deportation flight. Dozens of people were crammed into tiny cells, there was a "chain of people vomiting" from filthy toilets, no medical care, and only one meal per day.
People who are saying the US and Israel are being surgical in their air strikes against Iran are missing one major fact. The US and Israel have killed many more Iranian civilians in airstrikes since Feb than Ukrainian civilians killed by Russian airstrikes in all of 2025.

Helsinki is calling! Join the 20th anniversary edition of the Summer School on the History of Concepts, hosted by @janimarjanen.bsky.social and @johanstrang.bsky.social for ten full days from August 17 to 28: www.helsinki.fi/en/researchg...
A great course for PhD students interested in conceptual history and method! The Helsinki Summer School on the History of Concepts was one of the best things I did as a PhD student...great memories, mentors and friends. More info below
If the absolute number of methodological publications has increased, I suspect that this primarily reflects the growth in the absolute number of political theorists.
2/2
Absolutely.
Lots of studies refer to “the methodological turn in political theory” (of which I’m apparently a part).
But there is no such thing. And claims about this “turn” ignore the *many* earlier methodological publications in our field.

The @uniofhull.bsky.social Centre for Legislative Studies is delighted to host a seminar on campus on 16 April, 3-5pm (or online) to discuss 'The Idea of the Good Society: Essays in Honour of Raymond Plant'.

Tonight in Budapest’s Heroes’ Square, a sea of young Hungarians—who’ve only ever known Orbán’s corrupt, suffocating regime—are packed together, singing, chanting, and daring to dream of freedom again.
Their hope is raw, their courage is real. The heart of Europe is beating in Budapest tonight. 🇭🇺❤️🇪🇺
Absolutely!
This is unethical, both to editors and reviewers. As a reviewer for a different journal, I’d be very upset.
Also, other journals could infer what you did from publication dates, and you’d be vetoed from those journals.
Never heard of this before, and it makes me unwilling to review such articles, in case my work is wasted.
‘One cousin sent a short video showing plumes of smoke rising over Beirut. One explosion was so close to my aunt’s house that all she could see from her balcony was smoke.’

Excellent advice.
I would add one more:
Don't want to see (too many) posts about a particular issue → MUTE CERTAIN WORDS.
(E.g. I often mute "Goodwin" for a week at a time. And I permanently muted "Trump" ages ago; I still see many posts about him, but not as many as if I hadn't muted the word!)
Bypass all the journalists who discovered "a small European country" and its significance in the grander political scheme of things yesterday.
This is real analysis:
Come work with me! 2x 4-year postdocs. Open to political theorists, historians, and social scientists.

Here at @ecpr-nptmethods.bsky.social we always fight the sedentary tendencies of academic life by going out for some kind of walk-and-talk as part of our workshops/conferences.Today was a very special alpine version of that 😎
At pre-election rallies in #Hungary, the crowd began chanting: #Russians — go home! The historic slogan "Ruszkik haza" emerged during the Hungarian Revolution of 1956 and was directed against the #Soviet occupation 👍
"Calm down. He won't be that bad."
"He won't go after political opponents."
"He won't try to overturn an election."
"He won't start a stupid, costly war."
"He won't purge the military."
"He won't use nukes." <--- We're currently here.
A sheer war crime. This is one of the premier universities in the field of civil engineering in the world. Absolutely inexcusable, and it is likely to lead to retaliation in the region in kind. And all for no reason.
Two other stories. The Ukrainian ranged campaign against Russian oil production has now reached a systemic level. Its hit so many elements that Russian oil pipelines are getting "clogged". The Ukrainians are getting it. Finally a survey of recent stories about UGV. Enjoy.
