Absolutely over the moon about this.
If you've not read my HUGO NOMINATED book-length essay on Sandman, it remains free to all at www.eruditorumpress.com/blog/the-cud...
Still from Jurassic Park (1993). Jeff Goldblum holds Laura Dern's curved hand and pretends to suspend a droplet of water over it as a way of explaining chaos theory. Dern, in profile, gazes at her hand with serious focus as she listens to him.
Remember when "chaos theory" was the hot thing? I'm reading an article from 1991 and it hit me in the face like the smell of a Starbucks inside a Barnes and Noble
The First WORLD FENCING LEAGUE is happening April 25th!!! I'M GEEKING!!!
Japanese engineers developed this "Sword Tip Visualisation" tracking technology specifically for this event that will make it so much easier for the average person to see what's going on!
I MUST WATCH THIS ENTIRE TOURNAMENT
þetta er ekki í fyrsta skiptið sem ég rekst á færslu á Glatkistunni og hugsa „hvers vegna er þetta ekki kvikmynd“
BREAKING - Olly Robbins refuses to confirm or deny whether Keir Starmer never listened to Liars' They Were Wrong So We Drowned because it got a bad review on Pitchfork, but Robbins confirms when pressed by Whittingdale that the album is the forgotten classic of New York indie sleaze.
Þokan læðist inn yfir borgina nú í morgun.
An audiophile acquaintance recommended getting an old Lenco turntable and I've been very happy with that. A lot of records, especially older, sound better to me on vinyl than lossless digital. But to be honest, it might be that the physical act of putting a record on a turntable primes me for joy.
I was in a record store that was also a café a few months ago and in the downstairs seating area there was a flock of teen goths and I nearly started crying from happiness.
Forbes is gamifying news about the horrific mass shooting in Shreveport, LA this weekend, encouraging readers to bet on the likelihood of gun regulation with fake money via its "ForbesPredict" feature.
Eight children were murdered in the shooting.

I heard the song sussudio (sp?) by Phil Collins for the first time today
which was a bit of a shock because I thought I knew the song, I could even have hummed it if asked, but the song I thought was susuddio (sp?) was in fact some completely different song, probably not called sususudidio (sp?)
A screenshot from YLE News, the phrase “babies make a comeback” has been circled in red.
don’t call it a comeback, they’ve been here for weeks, sucking on teats, keeping parents from sleep
huh, skrítið að staðreyndadeild New Yorker hafi ekki tékkað á þessu
This is really worth a buy if you’re at all interested in science fiction and/or the roots of the modern far right
I read it some years ago and it’s helped me understand a lot of current events
Er þetta ekki brandari um sunnudagsmat? En ég veit ekki hvort að hann hafi verið að grínast sjálfur eða hvort einhver annar sagði þennan brandara og hann skildi hann ekki. Þegar hann var á Íslandi reyndi annar hver maður að segja frumsamdan brandara.
Also, he was part of the cult in Oregon that tried to poison a neighboring town, though I don‘t think anyone claims he was involved In that.
Það passar ekki alveg við frasann „undir yfirskini“, og svo er þetta mjög gamalt í málinu, allavega aftur á 18. öld, þegar björt ljós voru ekki svo mörg á Íslandi.
Þetta er dálítið dularfullt. Eina sem mér hefur dottið í hug er að þetta vísi til þess þegar glampar á yfirborð vatns og ekki sjáist í gegn, en ég hef ekki fundið það notað í þeirri merkingu.
Two hooded figures with lamps approach a moonlit, isolated cottage. A woman answers the door. We have come for the child, says the hooded figure So soon? she asks It is time, says the hooded figure. The woman is distraught. We should never have got him a library card! What is done cannot be undone, says the hooded figure We couldn’t see the harm! We just wanted him to enjoy reading! For most, it ends there, says the hooded figure, turning away and walking into the wilderness Oh lord, What have I done! says the woman, the child walks past her and out into the darkness with them. Do not cry mother. I am a writer now.

Ég skipti úr iPad Mini 5 í nýjan iPad fyrir nokkrum mánuðum og sumt sem leit dálítið sérkennilega út er mun eðlilegra núna.
Catalan poetry is fun! I sometimes try to read it in the original, and I feel like I’m on the cusp of understanding, and then I read a translation and find out I was very far from understanding the poem.
The first singer to come to mind is Luther Vandross
A poster from Great Northern Railways drawn by John Hassall. It depicts an old man, dressed for going out on the sea, skipping along a beach with arms outstretched. Underneath him it says: Skegness is so bracing
skegness was the subject of one of the all-time great tourism posters, so it can’t be all bad
it’s impossible to imagine that anything like that would be a hit outside the 90s, and this was an enormous megasmash
The Rev. Harold Davidson (1875- 1937), Vicar of Stiffkey, was unfrocked in 1932. Protesting his innocence then and thereafter, his was a cause célèbre of the 1930s. He joined fairgrounds and circuses, and was mauled to death by a lion in Skegness.
what a life!
