Question for Palaeontologists. Is the waffle like texture of the Stegosaurus plates in Netflix’s “The Dinosaurs” realistic? I’ve never seen them depicted that way before so it threw me off a little bit.

The machines are fine. I'm worried about us. On AI agents, grunt work, and the part of science that isn't replaceable.

Hey, I wrote a thing about AI in astrophysics

Three panel comic. Panel 1: young man in a hoodie looking morose and sitting on a swing set. He says “she’s breaking up with me…” Panel 2: next to him is a glyptodon, an early ancestor of armadillos. With his head in his hands, the young man says “what do I do glyptodon?” Panel 3: the glyptodon says “I’m like an early ancestor of armadillos. The young man angrily replies, “are you even listening man?”

While we were in competition I want to commend them on their clear, prompt and professional conduct through the whole process. This is how science ought to be done! Independent verification of results done in a spirit of openness!

TIC65910228b: A single-transit discovery of a massive long-period warm Jupiter with TESS Context. Warm Jupiters are excellent case studies for the investigation of giant planet internal structures and formation theories. However, the sample of long-period transiting giants is still small ...

There is also another paper by Felipe Rojas et al on the same object. The papers are independent but we agreed a simultaneous submission. Give theirs a read too: arxiv.org/abs/2602.13125

How much did it take for Patrick Stewart to say “lewtenant” instead of “left tenant” on the set of Star Trek the next Generation.

When I was a kid I thought divorces involved a ceremony where you break up in a church in front of all your family and friends

Also I enjoyed the new movie a lot. Bright hopeful superman is back!

It’s interesting comic book writers in the 50s wrote around superman coming from an inhospitable planet due to its “red sun” and being stronger from Earth’s “yellow sun”. Given all the current scientific debate about the (un)habitability of planets around red M dwarf stars.

Anyone else ever have that experience where you slip in the bathtub or shower and are overcome with the feeling that in some parallel universe you didn’t catch yourself and your parallel universe housemates are about to find your naked pruning corpse? Embarrassing
