Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.

still not really here, but i can't break tradition. so here's the boy, and this, i guess, is 40.
not really here. it's only enabling my delusions - it always did, but i used to love that. i'm sorry to anyone i've hurt or disappointed. i'm not my best self. i might be back when i figure out who that is.
only when the skywhale is in town... otherwise the most eldritch thing you're likely to see here is peter dutton trying to smile. but i'm super excited to share a municipality with you, even briefly!

Wow! Editors Canada is making a new Canadian dictionary based on the Nelson Gage Canadian Paperback Dictionary.
I worked on the Nelson Canadian Dictionary as a student. We didn’t know which name for the $2 coin would win out, and the entry on Nunavut was in the future tense. It’s been a while, eh?
it is extremely hard to get it up to write fiction when the entire world is just the emotional equivalent of a pulled fire alarm shrieking in the hallway outside your door at all times and the landlords are like "oh yeah just ignore it, it's fine"
The absurdity of existence is beautiful

"An Experiment in Modern Music," the concert at which George Gershwin debuted the tribute to our metropolitan madness known as "Rhapsody in Blue," took place a hundred years ago tonight.

`Life is hard. Some days are at the absolute limit of what we can manage. Some days are worse than that. Eating—picking a meal, making it, putting it into your facehole—can feel like an insurmountable challenge. '

a Palestine sunbird holds red poppies in their beak next to the text RIGHT TO EXIST. a Palestine crocodile (a subspecies of the Nile, now extinct thanks to occupying forces) guards a shining key next to the text RIGHT TO RETURN. a Palestinian olive tree, full of fruit is next to the text RIGHT TO RESIST. a Palestinian family of five, all embracing each other next to the text RIGHT TO REMAIN.
ever since learning that the national bird of 🍉, the p❤️lestine sunbird survived a name change attempt… & that occupiers drove a subspecies of crocodile endemic to the region to extinction… I couldn’t get this image out of my head. a ceasefire is the bare minimum. but let’s start there.
I don’t know who needs to read this, but please unfollow me right now if you think
- there are “reasonable concerns” about trans people
- “the trans debate” is “complicated”
- that trans people should have their rights limited in any way.
None of this is negotiable. “Yes but” me and I’ll block.

A diagram of the trolley problem titled IWW IU 520 (Railroad Workers) Presents: TROLLEY PROBLEM SOLUTION The illustration shows a trolley on a forking track. On one line five people are tied to the track, on the side track one person is tied to the track. The trolley has passed halfway across the tracks point of intersection. Off to the side a person manning a switch lever gives the viewer a thumbs up. Text beside an arrow pointing at the track intersection reads: "Slip the switch" by flipping it while the trolley's front wheels have passed through, but before the back wheels do. This will cause a controlled derailment bringing the trolley to a safe halt. Thank a rail worker today!

Sometimes when I’m having a particularly lousy day, I say “Computer, end program.” You know, just in case.
