We ran a randomized controlled trial to see how much AI coding tools speed up experienced open-source developers.

The results surprised us: Developers thought they were 20% faster with AI tools, but they were actually 19% slower when they had access to AI than when they didn't.

Avery Patterson on her first USWNT goal:

"I completely blacked out. The only think I remember thinking is 'Oh shoot, did I celebrate too early?' because the keeper got a hand to it. I will never forget that even though I don't remember a lot of it."

Beloit, WI revitalized its waterfront and chose this way to celebrate it: by bringing to life Georges Seurat's "A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte."

I adore when ancient streets and structures are fossilized into a cityscape. I also adore when they are completely forgotten. Both tell a tantalizing story about memory vs loss.

I've got this habit of zeroing drives before using them, I figure it's like a "drive wash" that makes sure all the sectors are usable and often I'll do a /dev/{u}random write instead and do a shasum at the end to verify read and write. Neurotic but it didn't become an issue until I got a 6TB drive.

Did you follow me? OK, cool, so I should say something more than once every 9mo or so. Well, I've been playing around with networking and automatic identification tech. Made some cool stuff recently, should post it or something.

John Wick "Afraid So" line

John Wick "Afraid So" line

Updated my handle. Got tired of the old one, I thought threata.gent was funny but apparently not as much as I thought. So here we are with a completely unpronounceable place for me to hang my hat.

So yeah... Best wishes to everyone.

There's a famous "swegl" in Beowulf, "Ðæt ic sceáwige swegle searogimmas," - "I saw brilliant/shimmering cunning gems." And it shows up in things like "sweglcandel" - "brilliant candle" ie, the sun.

Medical texts always have "swegls," with -s. Looks related & may be. But may not. It's a mystery!

Applied Linux - Introduction

OK, so the Applied #Linux #Audiobook and editorial efforts are coming along well. I'd be happy to add a couple more that are either new to Linux or experienced and passionate about educating.

Episode 11 - Getting Started was released at appliedlinux.net and soundcloud.com/applied-linux

Applied Linux - Introduction

Starting to get into the fun stuff with the Audiobook of Applied Linux now that my vocals sound right. I've re-recorded everything and added Episode 11, Getting started. Where the axe is thrown down, can you find and verify Linux ISO's or IMG's?

The image shows a white trackball mouse with a red ball on the top. The trackball, located near the top of the mouse, is used to move the cursor by rotating the ball with your fingers. The mouse has a curved, ergonomic shape that fits the hand comfortably. There is some visible discoloration or wear, especially near the middle where the palm would rest. The design is simple and minimalist. The red ball stands out due to its contrast with the white body. The mouse appears to be wired, though the wire is not fully visible in the image.

Had the same mouse since it came out. TrackMan Marble FX. Love it.

Ryan Reilly just dumped a bunch of stuff from the DOJ regarding Russian propaganda efforts and wow it's literally every talking point you hear from Fox News and OANN etc. It's Russian state media and Americans are paying for it on cable

I know people don't want to admit that YubiKey's pre-March 2024 are broken, but they are, and it seems to stem back to the use of closed-NDA-wrapped-libraries. Consider the open alternative for your next MFA upgrade, NitroKey @nitrokey.bsky.social: www.nitrokey.com/products/nit...

That's good, you'll have fun. As for if it is synonymous with an endorphin high, I'd lean towards yes. Is a game worth playing that doesn't have a winner?
