Josh Rogin: “Somebody shorted the oil market today by hundreds of millions of dollars exactly 20 minutes before Trump made his announcement—

If you see that once, it could be a coincidence. But that's happened at least three times, if not more, since the war began — that's a pattern”

Its premise is blunt: the reason so many good urban ideas stall isn’t because they’re wrong—it’s because they’re losing the narrative war.” Read about us in @momentummag.bsky.social! momentummag.com/urban-truth-...

Homelessness on the Rise in Finland - Y-Säätiö Asunnottomien ihmisten määrä on kääntynyt kasvuun. Nyt asunnottomien määrä kasvoi Helsingissä, vaikka asunnottomia asutettiin vuoden aikana vaikuttava määrä.

Sadly the current right-wing coalition government in Finland has foolishly cut the funding for the nation’s “Housing First” success story, and homelessness is predictably now on the rise again. That just reinforces the fact that such programs work, if lazy political ideology doesn’t get in the way.

England fans facing hugely inflated prices to get to New Jersey's MetLife Stadium for World Cup games The cost of getting the train from New York to the venue, where the Three Lions play Panama in their final group game, will be £111 - nearly 12 times the usual fare.

DON'T COME HERE.

They kidnap people off the streets & throw them in filthy holes.

They don’t care who you are.

They don't care if you're white, either, if you think that'll save you.

They have quotas.

(It’s all about money.)

THE US IS NOT SAFE.

STAY AWAY.

Mamdani: "What are we fighting for?. When you look back at the history books of our party, 100 years ago we had a very clear vision of what we were fighting for. It's sad that for too many Americans, when they want to look for ambition in the Democratic Party, then have to turn to a history book."

It is very weird that we never hear about this. We don't hear about the case, we don't hear about the incident, we don't hear about the Secret Service and any analysis they did on mistakes made. And the weirdest part of all is that Trump never talks about it. Ever. Why isn't Trump milking it?

Finland ends homelessness and provides shelter for all in need - scoop.me In Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Why? The country applies the "Housing First" concept agains homelessness.

“In Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Those affected receive a small apartment & counselling with no preconditions. 4 out of 5 people affected make their way back to a stable life. And all this is CHEAPER than accepting homelessness.”

image is a screencap of text from an atlantic article ("The FBI Director Is MIA") by sarah fitzpatrick.

it reads:

On Friday, April 10, as FBI Director Kash Patel was preparing to leave work for the weekend, he struggled to log into an internal computer system. He quickly became convinced that he had been locked out, and he panicked, frantically calling aides and allies to announce that he had been fired by the White House, according to nine people familiar with his outreach. Two of these people described his behavior as a “freak-out.”

which means progressive orgs need to stop treating "say it once in a perfect thread" as a comms strategy.

repetition isn't dumbing it down. it's how meaning gets built.

“Repetition Legitimizes”

It’s a saying about songwriting. It makes things “sticky” in your mind.

It works, which means it can work *for* things, not just against.

Rewatch Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

That’s it. That’s the post.

….

Ok it’s not quite the whole post. The movie doesn’t have to be based on a provable conspiracy, since those are really hard to prove, & it’s a movie with cartoons! But there’s plenty of evidence of dark money attacking public transit.

Why are Koch-funded activists trying to derail a US city's public transit? Phoenix will vote Tuesday on a light rail system expansion. It faces opposition from business owners backed by activists affiliated with the Koch network

“Koch brother groups have tried to derail public transit plans in other cities around the country, from Little Rock, Arkansas and central Utah, to Nashville and Michigan. They have frequently called such projects ‘wasteful spending’. The Koch organization is also heavily invested in fossil fuels.”

Repetition works.

Really gotta emphasize this: the targets & requirements in the Clean Power Plan were *so* modest, *so* conservative, *so* unambitious that *the power sector met them anyway, in the course of normal market operation*. The regs would have had basically no effect at all relative to the status quo.
