LinkedIn post: "This resonates with me very much - Google in particular is structured in a way to really drive people to keep working harder to get more "impact", more "growth", and of course more promotions... it is a powerful force, almost invisible, like being carried by a strong current down a river. When you break out of it, getting one's bearings can be challenging, but slowly there are other ways of finding meaning in life that come into focus."

Your Power Tools Got Worse On Purpose | Who Really Owns DeWalt, Craftsman, and Milwaukee? How TTI and Stanley Black & Decker took the same playbook in opposite directions. One invested $206M in R&D and grew to 4,000 workers. The other is $6 billion in debt and closing its hometown factory.

Why a small indie game developer put Palestinian liberation before profit A small indie game developer joined the No Games for Genocide campaign, even though it meant giving a significant chunk of money back to Microsoft.

New interview out! @jackmcgovan.bsky.social asked me all about @allwillrise.bsky.social and our decision to give back money to Microsoft as part of our support for @nogamesforgenocide.com. Good insightful questions, take a look: www.sower.world/all-rise-gen... #indiegames #boycott #freepalestine

Humble Grove is the latest on the list of principled game devs to sign our pledge to boycott and divest from Microsoft. Consider following and supporting them and their work - and contacting us if you're a game dev who wants to discuss doing the same!

The embargo for the Forza Horizon 6 preview drops today.

Please consider standing in solidarity with @nogamesforgenocide.com and not signalling to Xbox (and largely Microsoft) that they can count on your money.

There's no right/wrong way to protest, but you can pledge your support 🎮

A graphic which uses the colours of the Palestinian flag: white, black, red and green. Text at the top reads “No games for genocide”, and text at the bottom reads “Boycott Xbox, Sign the pledge”, with the website nogamesforgenocide.com below. In the middle of the graphic is an icon of a fist punching upwards, splitting a missile in half. One half of the broken missile has the Xbox logo on it, and the other half has the Microsoft logo on it.

I believe that in order to take some small step forward, the word “bird” should be replaced with “saur” in all common names. Mockingsaur. Secretarysaur. Red-winged blacksaur.

Like I really can’t emphasize this enough: they are upset that girls in an age range the majority of which is too young to consent aren’t being impregnated as much as they used to.

A weird thing is that whenever I post criticism of Al, the majority of the people agreeing with me seem to be leftists. It's pretty much the only position I hold that seems to be more popular with the left than the right. It should be the opposite. My whole point about Al (especially Al in creative fields) is that it isn't human, it doesn't have a soul, and we cannot surrender our society to an unhuman soulless algorithm even if it makes our lives easier in some ways. It's very strange that an argument predicated on the existence of the soul resonates with the left while conservatives tend to scoff at it.

for some reason the people who are Very Concerned that people might have "irreversible side effects" are never arguing against, like, mortgages

"being able to make decisions you might regret" is an important fundamental freedom.

The man who watches Trump all day, every day Aaron Rupar spends up to 80 hours a week following the US president, from meandering speeches to impromptu press conferences. He says it’s ‘pretty bleak’

“It’s difficult to cover him in a way that conveys how unhinged he is. Journalists are trained to be like, ‘OK, what did he say that was newsworthy?’ So you convey that to your audience. But in reality, when you actually watch, you see he's full of hatred, lying constantly, and very incoherent.”

If you haven’t heard about it yet, the youths are super into IRL human interactions, no AI, and “physical media” (vinyl! DVDs! tapes!) right now and it’s glorious.

Like there are 20yo influencers that just read old paper books and talk about feelings.

Again: for any big liberal donor who wants to funnel millions into fixing this country's politics, the ROI on buying any struggling paper and simply tasking it with doing real reporting on local news is vastly higher than the same $$ given to some group that does mass ad buys every election year.

i really wish "children are people and people are not property" was not a radical opinion but unfortunately it's the central question up for debate with much of politics

this shit should be illegal. recurring subscriptions ought to be capped at the cost you originally signed up for. "upselling" should require explicit consent, or for the user to drop the subscription and resub at the new rate.
