Was delighted to participate in an ACLU/NYCLU talk back following the brilliant "Data" play in NYC last night.

Tech industry supported mass surveillance is a threat to everyone in America, which is why opposition to it is entirely non-partisan. Keep fighting the good fight USA!

Ogden is Utah’s biggest spender on Flock cameras. Here’s how the city uses them The 41 cameras in Ogden photograph and log license plates, giving law enforcement a leg up on locating vehicles and solving crimes. Critics, however, have privacy and surveillance concerns.

FETC26: Approach School Surveillance Tech With Skepticism, ACLU Says A policy advocate from the American Civil Liberties Union warned FETC attendees last week that fear-based marketing and limited empirical evidence are driving district adoption of student surveillance...

Two lessons for all of America's schools considering #student #surveillance techs: (1) feeling safer is not the same as being safer; (2) even free products can have significant, non-financial costs. www.govtech.com/education/k-...

A school locked down after AI flagged a gun. It was a clarinet. A growing number of schools across the country use AI-powered surveillance to detect guns and contraband, all in the name of making schools safer.

Fight the fraud! Buying unproven, faulty #student #surveillance techs doesn't make our students safer - it only makes #EdTech Surveillance companies richer.

And traumatizing kids with false lockdowns isn't "better safe than sorry."

Maybe Beverely Hills High #School has so much $ it can waste it on #surveillance techs that don’t make kids safer & place them at risk AND afford interventions that actually help.

But can yours?

Don’t fall for the fraud. Help your kids, not tech companies.

Why Flock will get to keep Syracuse drivers' 'anonymized' data even if lawmakers cancel their contract Against the advice of his own working group, Mayor Ben Walsh granted Flock the right to keep Syracuse drivers' anonymized data.

WARNING to potential #Flock customers:

Flock’s website states its products can "stop crime before it happens" but in an interview Flock is now denying its own claims, with Flock's communications director calling the claims mere "marketing language.” WHAT?! bit.ly/49hEa3V

If you're a state legislator & want to limit government #surveillance in 2026 (and boy do we need it!) you should be looking into:

- Banning reverse warrants
- Passing the 4th Amendment Is Not For Sale Act
- Restricting ALPRs (especially Flock)
- Limiting student surveillance

Let's get to work!

Flock claims its ALPR system fail safes prevent police from misusing it for abortion & immigration investigations.

But to get around those fail safes, they just need to list another reason. One of them, used several times in Oregon, was "hehehe" 🤡🤬
