He was desperately trying to figure out what floor he was on. Him to me/ the air “is this 33?! I need to get off on 33!” while gesturing wildly at the screen that says 33 “these stupid elevators!”

Pretty sure I saw Alan Dershowitz in my office building elevator today. Wasn’t really paying attention then the old man in front of me started yelling at the elevator as he left and I saw his face and I’m 99% sure.
Wish I had looked earlier so I could have told him to gfhs
💯 it’s all much more tolerable (snacks! Drinks! Beautiful bathrooms! Peace and quiet!) and I think an overlooked point in the early/ late debate.
The weirdest thing to me is people who don’t go to lounges casting aspersions on those who do. “It’s a status thing.” Nobody is looking at me!
We’re now about 12 hours too long into airport discourse but I’ll allow it. Perfect low stakes topic, I think only a few accusations of fascism have been thrown around so far
No, not at all. There would be no women in sports.
Oh, I tack on tourism days around work travel all the time (I pay, mostly if it’s something that starts Monday or ends Thurs/Fri and I have wknd) but it’s just not something everyone can do. I just don’t think “leave a whole day earlier” is less neurotic than “arrive 30 mins earlier to the airport”
Most people have office jobs, they can’t take an extra day of work and book an extra day at a hotel that they then can be relaxed about paying for but not using
I tend to build quite a lot of time in to flying as there's just a lot of disruption these days. So l usually fly the day before I need to get somewhere. Also I'm a lot more careful flying longhaul than short: it's cheap frequent routes i'm relaxed about.
This is an insane follow up after calling people “neurotic” for not wanting to miss flights
I wasn’t really here 2020/2021 (still paid rent the whole time!)
NYC seems pretty busy now and every restaurant is jammed but seems like pretty big shift in going out for drinks after work like it just never came back the same way
I’m older now obv but my younger coworkers never really do either
*I’m talking about introverts who do in fact enjoy socializing sometimes but need an extra prod. Not people who for whatever personal reasons have always been truly *happy* not socializing
Introvert/ extrovert talk is kind of annoying but it *feels* like the acute period of Covid was worse for extroverts, but the subsequent yrs have been much worse for introverts. It *feels* like a lot of extroverts were able to slip back into pre 2020 habits but introverts just kind of perm withdrew
He’s been talking about many of these ‘policies’ since like 1987
Besides him, you know, having this exact same job 4 years ago
Ah, but Donald Trump was a mysterious and unknowable figure
I honestly do not think this alienated the Dem base. We’re probably just not going to agree here. But we agree it didn’t work, I’m not sure what would have.
Kate: fool me 23 times maybe I’ll actually put some money to work (won’t)
If futures hold here (lmao) we’re at +5.75% ish and +3.7% ytd
Chart of 6M SPX total return +6.4%
For as absolutely insane as the recent rally has been, SPX “only” +6.4% in 6 months (+4% since 10/29 local high). EPS up, P/E lower though still very high relative to LT history
I think that kind of explains it though. For whatever reason this just sticks in his craw. Is it stupid and not what he should be talking about? Yes. But everyone here saying “nobody says that!” They do. bsky.app/profile/kate...

There are many many more pages. Obv when I said “all of the press releases” I meant for anything pertaining to these issues.
Kentucky uses that language in all its press releases
Right, Biden had a huge amount of deportations at the border because border arrivals hit record levels (and Title 42 made it so that coming back over and over again had no penalty, so there was a huge # of “repeat encounters” which are each counted)
No, someone told him every press release from every corner of his administration that touches these issues has to use it and he’s been annoyed ever since bsky.app/profile/bubb...
Anyway the bipartisan bill had about $27B of new funding with $20B of that for the border and almost no new money to hire ICE agents and now DHS has over 6 times that amount and hired 12,000 new ICE officers in 1 year so good job everyone
Republicans already had a much much stricter bill, HR2, which they passed in the House in 2023.
"justice involved population" is actually a correct descriptor though. plenty of people do crime, without the police sticking their noses in it. most crimes only become a problem when "justice" gets "involved"
This was my favorite
Damn police sticking their nose in crime, which otherwise is “not a problem”
Unfortunately 44° and cloudy/ rainy Sunday is perfect lazy stay at home and doomscroll weather
It did not give the GOP everything they asked for. And you can look at what Republicans did once in power to see that that bill was not “to the right” of what they wanted.
That plus if airline travel/ flying stresses you out (flying frequently does not necessarily alleviate this- ask me how I know).
I’m def not less inclined to arrive early for a work trip, I’m supposed to land and have 4 meetings scheduled that day, if I’m late I’m fcked
And if they travel frequently and haven’t missed a flight that isn’t run multiple times a day they are simply lying about what time they get to the airport
People trying to argue with me like we all can’t see what “Mass deportations now” means, and who did and did not call for that. Absolute dipshits.
