I wonder if Sony still owns the rights? Be great to see both versions of the film one day.

Shot by a director whose father was a laxative tycoon and who had once claimed to have tap danced for the Queen of England, the story of the man behind this Texas-made regional slasher is arguably more interesting than the film itself.

I couldn't resist putting up more of this amazing scene from Claudio Fragasso's NIGHT KILLER (1990). Made the same year as TROLL 2, this should be as well-known. And who played Annie? It was a performance for the ages! Bad movie heaven.

Did you catch the second one? I was lucky enough to discuss some of the other films caught up in the debacle on that.

Definitely wort watching if you're a fan of the original, but doesn't settle on a definitive vision for what is actually happening (or happened in the first one).

New review: AMSTERDAMNED II (2025)

"A somewhat murky return to Amsterdam’s canals in Dick Maas’ belated sequel to his 1988 slasher hit. Mixing action, horror, and humour, it has its moments, but risks being too opaque for its own good."

From the same director as TROLL 2: Claudio Fragasso's incomparable slasher-trash classic NIGHT KILLER (1990). Sound up for the performance of a lifetime!

"If you told me at twelve years old that, in the future, you could see an eyeball lovingly skewered by a zombie or someone’s head being bisected in all its uncut gory glory by a grinning George Eastman—in 4K no less—I wouldn’t have believed you."

LOST '80s SLASHER ALERT!: PSYCHO II: THE RETURN OF NORMAN

Before the official '83 sequel, the media was abuzz with chatter about an earlier attempt to bring Norman back to the Bates Motel – and this time with Jamie Lee Curtis being murdered in a hot tub!

Have I saved the worst/best for last? The psycho caveman-on-the-loose-in-Los-Angeles opus THE STONEMAN features this jaw-dropping scene with the slowest axe swing in movie history and a woman who just stands there instead of running away. That performance, though ...

Another 'classic' clip from the messterpiece that is THE STONEMAN! Here, the actress being attacked by the psycho caveman loose in Los Angeles can't keep a straight face in this slomo fight sequence and then phones the police with all the urgency of someone ordering a pizza. Bluray now, please!

Here is an awe-inspiring clip from THE STONEMAN (check out the John Waters-esque angry neighbour). A killer caveman is on the loose in LA. Filmed in 2002, it looks like 1982. Sometimes movies are lost for a reason!

Slashback review FANTASIES (1982)

It is perhaps surprising that when the slasher movie was at its peak of popularity in the early 1980s, more examples weren't made for television. What is your favourite small-screen slasher?

Did you know that when John Waters’ SERIAL MOM (1994) was being developed for Columbia Pictures in 1992, it was pitched as a satire of From Hell movies? So much so that both Kathy Bates and Glenn Close were eyed for the role of Beverly Sutphin. Susan Sarandon also nearly signed on for the ... 1/2
