Yes. It's an unexpected sadness of late middle age to see familiar figures dropping at every turn, whatever you thought of them.

I was at American Music Club on the 24th. Amazing gig, ended with Eitzel collapsing onstage, iirc.
Dread to think. I nearly got battered for getting my camera out. It cost me about 10 minutes viewing of a mediocre Copa Libertadores game, so not a big deal - but it would be embarrassingly try-hard in a British game.
Stuck under a giant banner covering the stand at a River Plate game.
My view during a River Plate game 20 years ago...
I enjoyed both trilogies greatly. I listened to the audiobook for the Balkan, brilliantly told by Harriet Walter. Manning's great at creating unusual monsters - Miss Bohun in School For Love is another.
For me, not all of it has stood the test of time BUT Vision Of You and Rembrandt Hat are absolute, solid gold all-timers.
It was the self-titled lp they were promoting. Maybe I got the year wrong. 88 perhaps.
Saw them once, in '86. Bradford St George's Hall. Pete's final tour. Think they knew the new album wasn't any cop, so the set was big on Heaven Up Here (my favourite). Utterly magnificent.
Yes, the peak. But Present Arms is good, too.
Full moon over Port de Pollença. 10/10. No notes.
Thanks, man. I'm on holiday, so all good.
Only someone who'd never been to the Hacienda (or seen a photo of it) could describe that as "Hacienda-style".
Exactly. But, no, not even a cursory look at Wikipedia. I find it baffling.
Then he picked a Malcolm McLaren record - and had no idea who he was other than the maker of the record. It's ancient history, I suppose, but how incurious do you have to be to know NOTHING about such a pivotal figure?
Yeah. He's a bit too puppyish and "Gorgeous" grates but he's basically fine.
Yeah. The TSB is more than enough content for anyone. Occasional listens to the competition illustrate just how good they are at it. (Despite Dan's buzzword-laden therapy speak.)
Worst thing (among many) about that show is Simon Rix's close to the mic heavy breathing.
We're grinding to a halt and may well get overtaken by teams that manage to keep on chugging along. #lufc
Two - and Elegant Chaos which was a single in my mind.
Three all-time great singles on one album.
Dreamt last night about visiting a London 'Spoons called The Father John Misty.
I think I bought it in Bolivia. As you can see, it took quite a battering. I still wear that T shirt for walking. #thrifty
Peru. 20 years ago now!
I have a vague memory of a do in the Corn Exchange that ended with the DJ playing Two Princes. (Perhaps it was a dream.)
I had to do this once. Put "I like pina coladas and getting caught in the rain."
Fuck Me, I'm Thick - isn't that a Mudhoney song?
Pep dressed like a fan of Alien Sex Fiend for his presser. Been back to '86 and doing his shopping in BAD and X Clothes.
George Clinton?
