Post on Twitter from Mike Chambers at Adobe: "Original plan was to discontinue Animate, and it would stop working after a certain date. What changed is we 1) are not discontinuing Animate, 2) it will continue to be available to install and use for new and existing users, and 3) if we do ever discontinue it, we will ensure you can still access your content."

Artists and animators did this, congrats. I still would absolutely never trust Adobe as a company, but this is a win nonetheless.
