@a_truck_horn and I watched the entire LOTR show in 2 days. I understand no one cool cares about it but I found it was very clever to let all conversations about this show be dominated by culture war shit when the show is simply poorly made and boring as hell. V cheap looking. Cities & battles contain 30 people max. Character relationships begrudgingly exist to connect plot events. Dialogue is all interminable rousing speeches or two people arguing. Though very violent at times, it lacks the gleeful love of murder the Jackson films had.

Seeing all the posts about the new game of thrones show got me thinking about how after the original series had its negatively received ending in 2019 there was a brief moment for the upcoming LotR show to fill the cultural void, & Amazon squandered that on a show so uninspired & boring that people don't even bother to mock it
