I also kept thinking of Whitney from Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. I remember thinking she uses sooo many features in speech of what I think she thinks is "TikTok language" but is actually AAVE. And I found it particularly cringy bc they didn't feel accurate/authentic

How could I spot any errors when I'm so engrossed in the content?!?

I'm going to try and read a new article or chapter every (work) day. Hopefully this will help keep research at the forefront of my mind.

I'm mostly putting it here for accountability, but if anyone has suggestions/things I should add, let me know!

Ah I've just realised I have also used these resources but I never clicked the name and (digital) face! This makes it feel like such a small world, in a nice way! Thank you for your resources @joeystanley.com !

When someone says „Scientists do not want you to know“ you can dismiss everything from there on. Scientists want you to know. They are desperate that you know. They can’t shut up about what they found out and want you to know.

The only time they even mention women’s sports is in their efforts to try to legislate trans women out of public life. Once they are successful at that they will then begin efforts to legislate cis women out of public life with them.

It is amazing that the party who insist removing confederate monuments is erasing history also insist on removing monuments commemorating the enslaved people those confederate leaders were fighting to keep in bondage

Battlefield Linguistics is finally out there in the world! We packed this volume with cutting-edge scholarship on language and gender/sexuality across diverse linguistic contexts.
