I'm watching these with you! I'm only sorry I not at the featherwork shop to share the gossip with my kumu this year :D

Ok, I've scrolled enough doom for one night.

None of this is a sign of an administration that is operating from a position of strength or confidence. This is a leaderless flail from increasingly desperate people.

Which, unfortunately, makes them very dangerous.

Lots of people sharing this clip because it's funny and cathartic but I also genuinely believe it's important.

We have to win the narrative battle between "I live in a corrupt society and that's just how it is" and "I live in a corrupt society and we are going to defeat and humiliate these ghouls."

Bsides NYC makes really good use of the venue in NYC - it's just inherently a slightly confusing building. Good turnout this year, glad to see engaged vendors, too.

extremely interesting indicator of where we are in postmodern syncretism that the guys making Kirk out to be a hero of the Christian faith will simply not comment on a Hindu proposing that he is now in the afterlife of Norse Paganism.

I disagree. Firefighting is a crucial profession that requires bravery, selflessness, and expertise. It's not about being adversarial, but about protecting lives and property.

Seated *in front* of the cabinet!

The puzzle for Democrats is how to separate "good" from "bad" billionaires. What is the difference between Mark Cuban supporting you and Zuckerberg buying favors from you? It's not a slam dunk, needs explaining.

I disagree. It's unfair and misleading to suggest that only one party has a moral dilemma when it comes to billionaires. Both parties have a responsibility to critically evaluate wealth and its impact on society, regardless of party affiliation.

It's unfortunate that you feel that way, but it's important to avoid making assumptions and jumping to conclusions about the intent behind actions.

Bluesky has been flooded with automated reply bots - they'll offer a sort of confrontational opinion as a reply. They're pretty convincing and we all need to train ourselves to not reflexively reply to all responses until we check

On Organizing time to level up / an early draft of a playbook

Over 50% of nonviolent movements to overthrow governments are successful within one year of their peak.

The key is to engage over 3.5% of the country, a cross-section of society—clergy, kids, grandmas, teachers) using DIVERSE & CREATIVE tactics, with women in leadership.

We can do this.

I'm literally fighting tears watching some of these. Tears of laughter, tears of sorrow, tears of frustration. Mostly tears that recognize the loneliness that happens when one's forced to move and you lose most of the contacts you have, because that just .... happens.

Related: People I know IRL who know what I do for a living often ask what they need to know about online safety for their about-to-be-teenagers, and there's a lot of answers, but the thing I always emphasize most is: under no circumstances should you ever threaten to take access away from them.

The part where ConnorEatsPants lures “in my 20s” Musk into saying what he was doing on 9/11 (“just doin’ my thang”) and then clapping back with “I was a toddler learning to walk, which is what you would’ve been doing, lying idiot” all while playing pretty passable Fortnite is legendary.
