Today I wanted to show off Kyle's strong attack.
Each enemy in this game will have 1-2 strong attacks you'll need to look out for. You'll probably want to heal up whenever you get the warning a strong attack is approaching πΆ

I really really love it
One element I'm really proud of in this game is how attacks costing HP really changes the feel of the game from
'Silly RPG' to 'ohmygoodnessimgonnadie'
HP is restored after attacks, but to emphasize HP levels I made the battles change mood throughout πΆ

Yeah, I feel that and it's such a huge part of the work load
It just sucks whenever you can't really show off that part of the game to most people -
Development on Orphan Simulator is still coming along nicely-
I'm currently just ripping out systems I think could function better and taking breaks to cry πΆ

Some people haven't really liked the designs of the rat enemies in my game, but I still really like them.
They're supposed to be ugly/goofy to serve as a more silly part of the game. I might still change them in the end, but you'll have to fight me on it π

Oh yeah, strong attacks do live up to their name most of the time!
Always a good idea to heal up if you think you won't be able to navigate the tight fast paced movement!
After that update, I plan to take a break from fleshing out the battles, and changing gears to developing more of the overworld!

There were actually plans to make the next update focused more so on the overworld, but I kept getting a lot of feedback from players who've played the public test demo who asked me to work more on the party system, so getting that out is my current focus at the moment!

There are plans to be a world, the main reason most post have been about the battle system is simply because that's what I'm focusing on developing right now!

I've been working more on my game recently-
One element in this game that I think works surprisingly well is the 'Strong Attacks' the will hit you during battles.
Just having a warning somehow doesn't make it feel as bad when you get pummeled π

You will die over and over again, but you learn and despite the challenging enemies, and will come out on top. I'll probably make a story note after you die that God gave you the gift of foresight, and using that you can learn and overcome. (2/3)
The enemies are actually really hard to beat, everyone who's played the public test builds I've been releasing note it's deceptive with how easy it look. (1/3)
Now 'The Angel of Death' must go and investigate the disappearance of those reapers, and uncover the mysteries that will unfold.

The premise for that chapter is the strongest of heaven's angels, 'The Angel of Death', are called out on a mission. There's a large gathering of departed souls lingering in the Dream Realm that reapers have been trying to harvest from, but all reapers who venture to that gathering haven't returned.
OK, so before making the full game of 'Orphan Simulator' I'm making a small test chapter called 'Orphan Simulator: The Lavender Prince'
