Just watched the Coachella live stream of the Nine Inch Noize performance tonight. Pretty friggin’ dope. Can’t wait to see what NIN create next.

Just saw a trailer for a new (low budget) NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD. It looks like balls. That is all. Balls.

Yeah it’s the whole chain. Not sure if it’s been rolled out to all the theaters just yet but I bet most of them have it now.

Agreed

The staff has been significantly cut as there was only one person delivering food the entire time. No staff present to check tickets anymore. To report someone you have to use the QR code to do it, which is disruptive in itself.

This is the reality of QR code ordering at @alamodrafthouse.bsky.social now. And this gentleman had his phone out even longer than this recording (on top of the fact that his phone flashlight was on the whole time too).

Went to see Scream 7 at @alamodrafthouse.bsky.social and the phone ordering is in effect now (which sucks and Alamo should reverse that decision) and they are obviously trying to appease us because we walked out after the movie to employees handing us free cookies. I ain’t that easy Alamo.

I’m not opposed to Mike Flanagan doing THE MIST. Just seems like a really hard, uphill battle to outdo what Darabont did.

FRANKENSTEIN is currently in theaters for a very limited time (go see it!) and will be streaming on Netflix on November 7th.

.. along with the lavish set and costume design throughout the movie. It’s a sweeping emotional movie, with Victor and the Creature’s tragic relationship front and center. I’m really happy to have had the opportunity to see del Toro’s ambitious love letter to Shelley’s novel on the big screen.

[31 DAYS OF HORROR] DAY 31 - FRANKENSTEIN. @realgdt.bsky.social ’s take on the classic Mary Shelley story is faithful to the spirit of the original story and its thoughtful contemplation on reckless ambition, creation, humanity, and more. Jacob Elordi as the Creature is a standout here..

While I still prefer their sophomore effort a little more, this one has a dope ending that I’d like for them to follow through with and see what direction they would take in a possible sequel. TALK TO ME is available on 4K/Blu-ray and streaming on HBO Max and Paramount+.

[31 DAYS OF HORROR] DAY 30 - TALK TO ME. After watching BRING HER BACK earlier this month, I wanted to revisit Danny and Michael Philippou’s first feature film. It’s an affecting and disturbing metaphor on youthful carelessness with drug use.

It resembles us close enough just to be that more disturbing. CUCKOO is available on Blu-ray and streaming on HBO Max.

Hunter Schafer gives a great performance as a disaffected teen stuck in the middle of a very strange situation. And then there’s the delightful Dan Stevens turning in a fun performance as an eccentric preservationist. I liked the simple but effective creature design of the homo cuculidae.

[31 DAYS OF HORROR] DAY 29 - CUCKOO. For horror fans wanting to find more niche horror sub-genres, let me present to you this tale of brood parasitism. On this rewatch, I found a better appreciation for Tillman Singer’s brand of weirdness this time around. It’s atmospheric and at times unnerving.

While the movie makes some changes from the book, the spirit of King’s work is very much alive in the film. The set pieces are all executed well and Pennywise and the forms It takes is much more scary and unhinged in this outing. IT is available on 4K/Blu-ray and streaming on HBO Max.

[31 DAYS OF HORROR] DAY 28 - IT. With IT: WELCOME TO DERRY having just premiered its first episode this week, it felt like the appropriate time to revisit Andy Muschietti’s adaptation of Stephen King’s novel. Following the Losers Club around 1980s Derry is often entertaining, and often creepy.

.. that Jennifer is kind of a toxic element in her life, but also possessed by some demonic force. Ultimately the movie is about a messy break up between two people, complete with the usual hurt feelings, blood & death. It’s a good time. [31 DAYS OF HORROR] DAY 27 - JENNIFER’S BODY. Diablo Cody’s quirky dialogue & fun characters make for an entertaining romp in this high school horror comedy. Central characters, Needy and Jennifer, find themselves at a relationship crossroads as their friendship deteriorates when Needy realizes..

And it just gets weirder (in a fun way) from there. I watched this with friends and we all had a pretty good time with it! For cult movie enthusiasts or fans of cinematic oddities, I recommend checking this one out. THE MANITOU is available on Blu-ray and VOD.

[31 DAYS OF HORROR] DAY 26 - THE MANITOU. This 1978 supernatural horror is entirely a product of its time & is delightfully bizarre. The story kicks off with a woman who has a growing lump on the base of her neck because a 400-year old Native American demon wants to be reincarnated through her.
