Colorado River deadline passes without an agreement Tuesday was the deadline for seven states to submit a framework for a deal to update the river’s operating guidelines that expire at the end of 2026.

The most insightful story you’ll read about yesterday’s missed deadline (i.e. the only one I’ve seen that actually talks to someone in the room!) @reviewjournal.com: www.reviewjournal.com/news/environ...

Scientists tap 'secret' fresh water under the ocean, raising hopes for a thirsty world Scientists conducting a first-of-its-kind drilling operation have extracted samples of fresh water hiding in massive reservoirs deep under the ocean.

New fun water rights challenge: who owns freshwater trapped in shallow offshore aquifers? And, assuming there is zero natural recharge, is it a good idea to tap it? How do we govern that?

I deleted my previous post bc it had a news headline that has now thankfully been taken down for being false.

All I will say (if you saw it) is that I have no idea what’s going on behind closed doors in the Colorado River negotiations, and agreeing to conserve does not equal taking cuts!
