“Fearless Challenger” (the trailer’s music) kicks ass, one of my favorite ever videogame songs

I will see if I can find my old benchmarks and report back if I do!

If you want a modern keyboard in a similar form factor, have a look at the Zouya GMK67. It’s a DIY mechanical keyboard, had lots of fun building and customizing the sound profile of mine. Kinda like a keyboard gunpla

Indeed! I benchmarked LS-120s vs ZIP-100s for a while and the ZIP wins hands down in all its variants (LPT, SCSI, IDE). The LS-120 is just slower, and imho, also more fragile than the ZIP-100

I *think* they are starting to come down in prices. At least I can now find them again for prices hovering around 100EURs (not that I ever paid that much for mine)

Right, I remember that thing! I hope someone reverse-engineers it, one day. Then people will start Quad SLI-ing V2s and they will become even more expensive 🤡

Wait, there was Quad SLI for V2s? Got any links to it?

I can only speak for my second-hand knowledge of using them in the late 2010s as a retrocomputing novelty, but… they are slow, fragile and expensive for what they are. The ZIP was a much better floppy successor. I really wanted to like LS-120 because of its form factor, but it’s a massive PITA

It’s time for composite to shine bright again

These same people are what made the platform unobtainable for most normal people. You can’t afford to throw 1200 EUR on an hobby? Too bad for you, loser, I can and I will, patience is for the weak of mind! *bids 1200 EUR for a dirty, broken Amiga 3000*

Recently a guy or two on a forum even told me to GIT GUD because I said I couldn’t afford to spend 1200 EUR on a bad clone of an Amiga, and he/them swiftly questioned my life choices as they were evidently bad if I couldn’t afford to spend 1200 EUR on a whim for an hobby. What else is there to add?

Glad to see that some of the Mythos hype is actually real. Very interesting times ahead

Yeah, the rich people entered it during COVID and never went way. I have been in the retro Amiga community since 2008 and back then literally everyone would help you or release projects for free. These days? Almost everything comes with a very fat markup because they know the rich people will pay it

Now that there’s rich people in it, some people are pumping out newly made, FPGA-based clone Amigas with unreasonable prices for mass-produced, easily replicable items and rich people are still paying for it because they have more sense than money.

Like it happened to the Amiga - the VERY RICH PEOPLE (tm) got attracted to it and it’s now unobtainable for most people. A single Amiga goes for THOUSANDS for no good reason. I got mine for 30EUR each just a few years before the craziness started.

Well, off my Steam wishlist it goes!
Can’t wait until Shitler gets deposed and all these fucks will go into hiding again, like they did for decades. The worst part of the current administration is that these people can now say things like these freely without any fear of repercussions.

Whatever brings down the prices of the original units is VERY welcome.

Yeah, I would’ve expected (and loved) a remake of a Sierra classic. Weird choice indeed

It kinda saddens me how much effort they put into it only for it to bomb - apparently it only sold around 5k copies, 10k at best. That certainly didn’t cover their expenses so this killed the chances of ever seeing any more remakes from Ken and Roberta. I was hoping in a Colonel’s Bequest remake…

I think I have one card with a similar chip… yeah, that’s definitely slow

1 week ago 1 0 0 0

What kind of chip does it have?

Yeah, sure, Tim. Let’s get you your meds

I think the CA5’s is smaller in overall capacity as it doesn’t come with heatsinks so it probably has less wattage

That sucks. If letting it rest for a while makes it work again, then the PSU needs AT LEAST some recapping, if it’s not shot altogether

Yep, here it is: discord.gg/ua4u6SzyHf
There’s a zz9000-dev channel, you will find shanshe in there who is the guy behind the z3660 that was also working on the zz9000 updates along with some other devs

You might be interested in joining the Z3660’s Discord since I know they were trying to bring some of the improvements of the Z3660’s back to the ZZ9000, not sure how far they’ve got with it

Welp. Does removing the soundcard help? It’s the only thing I can think of that could be letting this issue appear. If removing the soundcard lets the pc boot maybe you can install stuff on it for a bit and see if it’s stable

Awesome read and a show of great technical skills and dedication from Mr. Keller. Hopefully it will also get Puma and Panther support (Aqua for life)

FFS. Does this thing use standard ATX PSUs or something custom?
