On the plus side, Apple got rid of the “Simplified Mode” in Logic Pro 12.

Never understood that feature & wasted many hours telling students how to disable it.

One of my students plugged his headphones into the 3.5 jack on a MIDI controller this week. Not at all good for the ears.

Teaching MIDI composition in Logic Pro to my intro students & workshopping a new analogy.

The piano roll & step sequencer are like working with Lego bricks.

The loop library is like working with pre-assembled furniture.

Did I pick this up somewhere? If so, would like to cite my source!

If you need some slow TV as a distraction today, I recommend watching Artemis II roll out to the launch pad. Unfortunately, the soundtrack is underwhelming. 1/3 www.youtube.com/watch?v=nrVn...

And if the county council is truly interested in avoiding waste, the right decision is to approve the grants. Because anything less at this point means you have wasted hundreds of hours of your local citizens' time. 6/6

We choose to live in a county that shares our commitment to the arts.

If the county council is uncomfortable by certain programs, that should have been in the application guidelines from the outset. It is unacceptable to change the criteria this late in the grant process. 5/6

I am not directly affiliated with any of these organizations, meaning I do not hold any leadership position and did not aid with any proposals before the council. But I have collaborated with a few and my family and I participate in events programming by more. 4/6

Please take a minute to review it and appreciate the hundreds of hours these 30+ organizations spent on their proposals to get to the September council meeting. Their process started in April. They attended workshop, drafted proposals, presented documentation, and answered questions. 3/6

Community Cultural Grant Thanks to Volusia County s ambitious Art in Public Places program, the creations of 76 artists from across the nation adorn the walls and courtyards.

Locals on FB are sharing the Beacon article, which details how the council meeting transpired. I would instead like to direct attention to the county web page that details the process for awarding these grants. 2/6

For those outside of Volusia, our county council recently pulled funding for arts organizations. These were local grants made to local organizations using local tax dollars. 1/6

The anchors paused for a picture with us behind the news desk. The front of the desk has the "Good Day Orlando" logo and its surface if reflective. From left to right are anchor Stephanie Rivas, student Marvel Olson, anchor Danielle Knox, me, student Chaylee Martin, and anchor Amy Kaufeldt.

Visited our local morning TV news program to talk about Young Sound Seekers and Stetson University. Glad I was joined by Marvel and Chaylee, who shared their perspective as students working on this experiential learning project.

Where else can you stand on the shore and listen to rhythm of the waves wash over you, then take a short walk over to the lagoon, drop a hydrophone off the dock, and reveal another world of sound. 2/4

The article mentions approval for 44 launches and landings per year. When they receive final approval, I am genuinely scared what that will do to the #soundscape at #Canaveral. 2/2

'The turtles and the nudists will have to migrate': SpaceX plan for Starship launches from Florida sparks debate among Space Coast residents Worries include broken windows and impacts to the local environment, tourism and fishing industries.

Looking past the clickbait headline, this is really worrisome. Starship is orders of magnitude louder than the current rockets that liftoff from KSC. #canaveral #soundscape 1/2

This tracks with my story. People outside academia are always confused why I moved from Florida to Hawaii, then back to Florida a year later. Short answer: tenure-track position near family.
