Can argue the media does overuse anonymous sourcing generally but whistleblowing on the FBI director by employees who would be fired by said FBI director is an absolutely legitimate use of that and that's not relevant.

Kash would basically have to prove that the reporter made up or manipulated the quotes from sources...which if there are notes it's a non-starter.

Particularly hard to prove for this. Person accused of excessive drinking not disputing the drinking but that it was excessive when a bunch of other sources say it was excessive is not exculpatory info.

It's really hard to prove defamation in the US. Need to prove actual malice - so basically not just that the reporter effed up (doesn't appear to be the case) but basically that the reporter clearly and knowingly lied/made up information.
