A crossword clue: Currently broadcasted
Oh, not a fan of this mini crossword clue at all. 😵💫 I get the same uncomfortable feeling when I hear someone say a player was "offsides" instead of offside.
The APL really need to get their shit together asap. We can't afford to lose a team like Canberra.

Don't mind if I do
I'm a big Kahli Johnson fan. The injury hit first season with Calgary was unfortunate, but she showed good signs. Hopefully she can get a good run, this time around.
We have some young up and coming strikers in Holly McNamara (23), Annalise Rasmussen (20) and Skye Halmarick (18) to name a few, but Rasmussen hasn't played for Juventus yet, Halmarick has only had 478 minutes in the Dub, and McNamara hasn't tested herself at an overseas club.
Sam Kerr 2026 85 minutes vs Kenya 1 Goal 80 minutes vs Malawi 1 Goal 90 minutes vs Spurs 1 Goal 90 minutes vs Arsenal 1 Assist 90 minutes vs Villa 1 Goal 1 Assist 90 minutes vs Japan 90 minutes vs China 1 Goal 90 minutes vs North Korea1 Goal 90 minutes vs South Korea 1 Goal 59 minutes vs Iran 1 Assist 90 minutes vs Philippines 1 Goal 49 minutes vs Man Utd 1 Goal 26 minutes vs Liverpool 12 minutes vs Spurs 41 minutes vs Man City 57 minutes vs Arsenal 61 minutes vs Man City 61 minutes vs Palace 2 Goals 30 minutes vs WestHam
Kerr earned her spot as a starter in the Dub and then went to the NWSL as a youngster and played alongside Abby Wambach and Carli Lloyd before breaking out. She's not going to be an easy national team player to replace when her "out of form" play is still so ahead of any other Australian striker.
3 of Kerr's 4 goals during the Asian Cup were game winners. And none of them were "easy" tap ins.
Club season shooting numbers excluding penalties (League Cup shooting stats not available)
Sam Kerr: 57 shots, 28 on target for 10 goals (1024 minutes)
Bunny Shaw: 114 shots, 49 on target for 18 goals (1831 minutes)
Very similar conversion rate overall
I've said this elsewhere, but I don't think I have ever heard as much about any other striker's missed chances than I have about Kerr's. At least, a striker with her rate of scoring/score involvements. The same complaints were just as frequent during her golden boot seasons as well.

One of my regular defences of Sam Kerr's current form in her first season coming back from injury 😅
If Australia had another striker with her current club form we'd be crazy excited, and not saying she's been poor.

Friday night footy
NEWS: The boardroom debate to flip the #NWSL calendar to fall-to-spring has intensified again, with another vote potentially imminent. A change was voted down in 2024. It might now have the momentum to pass with MLS flipping, NWSL expanding, ongoing summer/FIFA window congestion. Big decisions loom.
Yeah understandable why the players didn't want to let that go. It was an insane call. 😵💫
And it's why wasting a year to get "the right coach" felt so needless and annoying since we're seeing the same patterns repeat.
Yeah probably not 😬
And international football is such a different beast from club football. I feel like it suits a pragmatic coach much more. Especially for a team outside the top 10.
I'm glad Kenya exposed the issues Australia often has with teams that can play quickly in transition. Now they need to hopefully learn from it.
I will say, loved Clare Wheeler's goal last night. Sam's was funny and Foord's not being given was so bizarre. It didn't look like offside was the reason given. Looked like the ref said it went over the bar??
I was optimistic going in and hoped we'd see some variation in the 2 lineups. Maybe play Holly and Sam together for more than 5 minutes or start a new midfielder with a couple of regular starters around them. But I think this has brought back why I wasn't a fan of the coaching choice to start with.
I watched both Tillies games. Joe (in his overseas coaching anyway) is a plan A and no plan B type of coach and it seems that will be the way he does it here. It was the same in the Asian Cup. Sometimes it works, a lot of times it doesn't.
I really loathe the idea that the Brands get this kind of control over what should be personal preference for players.
Given the bottom of the NWSL wage structure, the fines being proposed here also seem pretty out of line to me.
My pet peeve across all soccer is I want to see ball when it’s in play. If I see something other than ball, no. I want ball. Why no ball?
I don’t want to see a kid or some dipshit like Teal Man when the ball is in active play
maika hamano, good young player, chelsea should look into signing her
