One of the most important things in education is meaningful interaction with the student voice. Something demonstrated in our recent publication with @raisenetwork.bsky.social @uclan.ac.uk

A strengths based approach can empower neurodivergent learners to thrive, not just survive education. @uclan.ac.uk

Fantastic experience, it was great to connect with lots of like-minded people ๐ #LTHEchat
You're very welcome, I would love to hear your thoughts on it too.
I would love to hear your thoughts on it as well.
@drntasler.bsky.social @aah-ltsu.bsky.social This is the paper I mentioned about mattering on the #LTHEchat last night.
Elliott, G., Kao, S., & Grant, A. M. (2004). Mattering: Empirical Validation of a Social-Psychological Concept. Self and Identity, 3(4), 339โ354. doi.org/10.1080/1357...
Let me know how I can send it to you as it won't allow me to send it in a chat.
Me too!! I often add things to my planner just so I tick it and get the ding ๐
Thank you much for having us! It was great to connect with you all #LTHEchat
I have really enjoyed reading the paper by Gregory Elliot et al but for the life of me cannot find the reference just now but I will dig it out for you and send it over if you like?
A6. I have been reading about mattering recently and I really like this concept. Everyone can belong to a community/group/institution but I believe that it's important for everyone to matter #LTHEchat
A6. In a perfect world we wouldn't need to have this conversation about the 'how' and 'why' of inclusive design. #LTHEchat
Same here - I have shared an inaccessible slide which I then 'fixed'. I wish I could've taken a picture of some of my peers faces #LTHEchat
A.5 as long as the choice is built in rather than an afterthought like some alternative assessment formats. Assessments should be inclusive by design rather than on a need to have basis. I agree that presentations, podcasts, blogs are all worthwhile #LTHEchat
as long as you follow the arrows ๐
gamification in education is amazing #LTHEchat
I use these in an 'empathy based' escape room within Nursing & it is so powerful. #LTHEchat
A strengths based approach is so important for confidence building as opposed to the deficit model which is often front and centre. #LTHEchat
It depends where I'm reading for dark mode. Emails = a big no but my kindle is an absolute! #LTHEchat
A.4 (part 2) a ticklist that plays a satisfying bing when I have done it is always nice - this however may be a personal preference ๐ #LTHEchat
A.4 Small, interactive chunks that include a practice as you go on each section. A rationale for each concept too, I hate it when guidelines just say 'do' without the 'why'. #LTHEchat
There's not one colour that works for all. All learners will have their own preference e.g. pale blue on a screen for me helps me focus better than green.
๐๐ this! #LTHEchat
I find it hard to get the right balance between creativity and inclusivity at times too.
This is possibly the most fabulous word I have seen yet used in education!
Once you see the styles you will never go back to bold, underlined, size 14 again : )
One of my students demonstrated a screenreader to me and the difference between accessible and inaccessible documents - my mind was blown!
I really like this point about expressing knowledge, (as well as the sunflowers ;)) #LTHEchat
