No problem! At the end of the day 'AI' is mostly an annoying buzzword thrown around by business people trying to get money from investors. This was a pain in the ass even before the generative ai nightmare. Lots of "we want ai" from industry MBAs who have no idea what that even means.

I say this mostly to clarify that the label "ai" is mostly meaningless and has changed in use a lot over the years. It makes it very frustrating to communicate about because its so vague and everyone has a different idea on what it means.

An informal venn diagram where a large circle labeled "ai" contains a variety of other circles like "machine learning", "deep learning", "generative ai" and "natural language processing". This venn diagram shows generative ai as a smaller part of the larger ai circle.

Slight correction here but 'AI' as a term goes way back and is very broad. In the data science space ML has been considered a subset of AI for as long as its been around. This includes a lot of traditional statistical techniques that many would never think of as AI (regression).
