Australian Government Orders Steam, Fortnite, Minecraft, Roblox to Outline Child Grooming and Extremism Prevention Measures Breaches to Australia’s Online Safety Standards can potentially result in fines of “up to AU $49.5 million per breach” (approx. US $35 million)

The Australian eSafety Commissioner has served transparency reporting notices to Steam, Fortnite, Minecraft, and Roblox.

Each platform is required to explain how they are "identifying, preventing, and responding" to sexual predators and extremist propaganda, and will face fines for non-compliance.

Will dig into this one! First statement was enough to intrigue me as a reviewer. I review games that I'm an existing fan of, but mostly games that I am not. Although, we certainly see paid journos focus on the games they are EXPERTS in, because that's the job. Interesting discourse!

This is insane - bringing back one of Nintendo's biggest failures as an accessory is the most Nintendo thing you could possibly do. Absolutely makes no sense from a business perspective but somehow its infamy means I want one.

For example, I made a risky article about a political issue I care about a few years ago and @checkpointboss.bsky.social helped me carefully navigating that without bowing down to the PR-at-be.
