Democrats did not want to do any mid-decade redistricting. It was Trump who started it in June 2025 with a phone call to Greg Abbott after more special election losses. Dems warned they’d respond. But Texas did it anyway - without the consent of the voters. Then Dems responded.

If Republicans hate the CA and VA redistricting, they can thank the person responsible - Donald J. Trump.

The key to success here was that he identified and targeted the most gullible group of people on planet earth - American MAGA.

If Republicans could just run the government competently while they control the presidency, house and senate, they wouldn’t have to worry about gerrymandering, SAVE Act, or any other efforts to rig the midterms. Maybe the Iran War will save them since voters love it so much.
The icing on the cake in Trump/Abbott’s gerrymandering scheme will be when a couple of Republicans lose their elections in Texas in the midterms specifically because their districts were weakened by the dummymander.
Trump still has these massive PACs that have continued to raise obscene amounts of money every day since the 2024 election and he spent none of it on the Virginia redistricting referendum.
