Really struck by how shocking the 'If You Tolerate This' poster still is.

Off the back of this, I decided to collate some of my all-time favourite propaganda prints from the early 20th century, with a bit of historical context for each.
All Allied, of course, because frankly fascism can go do one.
Pick up the nearest book, turn to p. 42, and post the second sentence:
'The Bren Group's No.2, centre, is carrying the case for the LMG's spare parts and barrel.'
[wistful sigh]
Baby boom in a year or so, then?
One wonders why they bothered enrolling.
Pouring a small drink to celebrate a bit of good news and gosh this Hibiki Is delicious.
Sounds like supply and demand working perfectly.
With this knowledge of the Bible you could be the US Secretary of Defense.
Slightly mystified by a text from Royal Mail telling me 1) that they've delivered a parcel to me and 2) how to track my parcel.
You're not?!
More bangers:
Just seen a post using the hashtag #IStandWithStarmer so I assume he's toast.
The law seems to treat driving as some inalienable right when it's just...not. Even that bloke who rammed his car into the Liverpool FC parade in 2025 only got a three-year ban to run after his release from prison.
Apparently the UK celebrated the end of covid restrictions by having fried eggs for breakfast and carbonara for dinner for four years straight.
Striking, isn't it? So many Northumberland Fusiliers in 1914-1918 and so many RAF Volunteer Reserve in 1939-45.
Another outrageously light sentence for a drunk and drugged driver who literally launched his car into the air - 16 months in prison and banned from driving for less than 4 years. Ridiculous.

Now wondering what Ed Miliband's 'war face' looks like.
'den Heldentod' feels like an evocative phrase.
Whenever I see names repeated on a memorial I wonder if they were siblings or other relations. Losses like that within families must have been so hard to bear.
True, but we've also had four in the 2020s and the decade's only a bit more than half finished.
Increasingly aghast and horrified at the state of UK academia as reflected by my timeline at the moment. Solidarity with everyone affected by cuts and redundancy.
Blair being PM for a full decade now feels a bit absurd.
I don't think it's satire as such, but it's very funny. thelionandunicorn.com/2022/09/16/e...
Always struck how, when war memorials give the regiment or service of people from both world wars, you can see the differences between the wars. Here the First World War dead are all from the infantry or artillery but in the Second there are far fewer killed, and 2 of 3 were in the Royal Air Force.
Checked out of the Marvel films in general after realising that Avengers Assemble was 143 minutes of my life that I'd never get back.
Sounds like a slogan for a certain kind of pharmaceutical.
I want all of these. Not only are they beautiful but I feel like we could all do with the reminder.
Some of them might be purchasable via IWM Prints, but I'll have a look.
Bang bang bang /ends.
