The DOJ was created to increase the capacity for federal prosecutions during Reconstruction esp. those to be brought under the newly enacted KuKlux Klan Act.

Now the DOJ is being used to prosecute a storied civil rights organization whose central mission has been to expose & dismantle the Klan.

JUST IN: A federal judge has tossed a defamation lawsuit Kash Patel brought against former FBI official / pundit Frank Figliuzzi.

Figliuzzi’s claim that Patel spent more time in nightclubs than at FBI HQ was “rhetorical hyperbole,” the judge rules.

A reminder while Republicans bitch about Dems finishing the redistricting fight they started: they have full control of gov’t— they can pass a law banning gerrymandering any time they want. They won’t. Republicans aren’t mad gerrymandering exists; they’re mad that they’re not the only ones using it.

Starting a mid-decade redistricting war only to end up with -1 seats is the same fine strategic genius and subtle grasp of game theory that brough us the Strait of Hormuz.

If Republicans hate the CA and VA redistricting, they can thank the person responsible - Donald J. Trump.

None of it would’ve been possible without his leadership on this issue.

Democrats did not want to do any mid-decade redistricting. It was Trump who started it in June 2025 with a phone call to Greg Abbott after more special election losses. Dems warned they’d respond. But Texas did it anyway - without the consent of the voters. Then Dems responded.
