I’ve been writing JavaScript since before const, let, and fat arrows were even a thing. No spread operator, no destructuring, just hacks and a lot of anonymous functions.

Man, how times have changed... I'm getting old.

Pixel art is fun; I really enjoy it, even if I'm really bad at it... for now.

Yea, pixel art is very time consuming but you're right the finished product can feel so good.

Nice, did you make all the tiles yourself?

One downside to using light themes is if you have eye floaters, they can become very distracting rather quickly. #pixelart #indiedev

Aseprite light theme with pixel art tiles for RPG Maker

Light themes are perfectly acceptable as long as you lower your monitor's brightness , preferably around 35-40.

Kicking off February, what are your indiedev goals for 2026?

Mine: finish some music packs and 3D asset packs, and maybe a small game project.

It's a great starting point that is for sure, only takes a little bit of brain power to learn the basics. I'd recommend the demo to at least try it out first!

It makes you wonder if the audio tracks are also AI.

A used ThinkPad is usually the way to go, most of the time they're cheap bust also very solid and reliable because they're business machines. I have a T480s I purchased it for 180$USD a few years ago, I personally run Linux but Windows 11 runs just fine and it is compatible.

It feels weird when the rmweb forums are down for maintenance for over 24 hours!

My morning ritual is to browse new posts and see what happening in the RPG Maker world. Hopefully tomorrow then?

Oh no, that's rough! Not trying to promote, but also trying to promote 😏 For future scenes, if you're playtesting frequently, our game backup plugin could be the lifeline you need. Luckily, the free version is all you need to save you from losing hours of work.

It’s great to hear! Many people who switch from RPG Maker to Godot often praise its features. For RPGs, story-driven games, or even fun little simulator games, RPG Maker is still a solid choice.

Glad you’re part of the RPG Maker community, happy game making!

Been refactoring my Time System plugin and working on a calendar system with recurring events! 🎉

Now, users can set up daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly events—perfect for in-game festivals & quests.

What kinds of recurring events would you use in your game?
