“No, not really.” As you grab another box, then the entire shelf. He cannot look away when you tear into a box with your teeth and shotgun the plastic bag inside. Sprawled on the floor, choking through tears (and flakes) you manage “Terrible. Please. Help,” before the overhead fluorescents fade.

Very welcome. The story you think you're writing vs. what story wants to be written is always surprising to me... and mostly delightful.

I think attrition is the point. They over-hired by a ridiculous degree and now he's trying to hide his mistakes by putting on a digital prophet costume.

The Week I Killed My Father – marrow magazine The first time he spelled it out, I was fifteen.

Reading all the rest of the work in Marrow's Issue 16 and this piece is probably my fave.

Gonna be real disappointed if it doesn’t have anything to do with mantises.

We Automated Everything Except Knowing What's Going On AI collapsed the cost of building software, but the systems underneath are buckling. We're entering an era where everyone can build and nobody understands what they've built.

Feeling this so much right now. eversole.dev/blog/we-auto...

How did Discord become a thing people use? The UI feels like it was designed by and for meth-addled chimps.

Small goblin got questionably licensed KPop Demon Hunter dolls in her Easter Basket. There’s a bit of a Black Hole Sun vibe to them.

“They’re so creepy. I love them!”

Last night: 10yo is inconsolable when he drops and shatters a beloved piece of selenite.

Tonight: "If you want we can find you a new rock tomorrow."

"What rock?"

That it’s inconsistent with their product story? I mean… sure?

The use case is Claude code specifically, right? the detection is probably good enough 90% of the time and basically instant. If it works, who cares?

What, exactly, is wrong with this? it seems like a good optimization to me. LLMs are nondeterministic. They‘re also trying to optimize for token usage.

A set of screenshots from DEEP SPACE NINE. An old Klingon throws his arms around Dax and shouts "Curzon, my beloved old friend!"

Dax returns the hug and says "I'm Jadzia now."

The Klingon grabs her shoulders, smiles, and says "Jadzia, my beloved old friend!"

Star Trek figured this out thirty years ago. It's not hard. Even an old, drunk Klingon got it.

After my last tattoo being a many months’ long project that involved complex stencils and planning, walking into the shop and sketching something minutes before the artist freehanded it was kinda wild.
