#rabbits having breakfast

From the rabbit hole I just went down, this is a risk. They've got some time to prep for it. But they haven't built a system to push live content. Different problem than pre-recorded content which is their bread and butter.

Part of the problem is that it was live content. You can't pre-stage caches of live content close to where it is going to be consumed. Netflix is built for pre-recorded content.

I used to play with relatively large Oracle DBs. The concept that BlueSky uses one DB instance PER USER is wild.

Own hardware, bandwidth, caching, load balancing, and lots of cores. Yes, yes, and yes. Triggers fond memories of operating enterprise software. Also nightmares and fires drills.

There wasn't and that's what makes this all so hard for me to process. So many unthinking people.

Yeah my wife and I recently found out we had partially collapsed lungs when getting scanned for other problems. Obviously we can't directly connect it to Covid, but it's odd to find out.

As someone getting into watchmaking. There is now something special about a watch I haven't opened yet. I haven't had a chance to damage anything, and I know the hands are on straight.

I'm currently trying to get into the first STALKER. I think I'm getting old, getting a game to grab me is harder and harder. But when they do, they don't let go.
