This is disappointing. First Between the Covers, and now The Big Scottish Book Club. It was great having shows where authors showcased their work and readers shared their passion for books. Are there any other shows like that out there?

Sorry to hear that. It’s a big loss. The Big Scottish Book Club and Between the Covers were both fantastic. Found so many great books through them.

Dark Crescent, by Lyndsey Croal, is the latest book I’ve read by a Scottish author. It’s a fantastic collection based on folklore. I recommend you check it out.

Finally watched the BBC adaptation of Lord of the Flies. The young cast were great, but it was held back by some strange sound design and cinematography choices, which were reminiscent to 80’s apocalyptic drama, Threads. They just seemed out of place.

Put reading on hold due to the birth of my daughter, but we’ve found our feet after a hectic few weeks, and I finished The Eye of the World. What a great start to the series.

Love how welcoming the WOT community is to new readers. Such a friendly and passionate bunch.

Thanks. I’ll check it out. The books are pretty chunky, I suppose it’d be a lot to cover in one episode

Thanks I’ll check it out

Can anyone recommend a good Wheel of Time podcast? Bonus points if they discuss a book per episode.

So, a Lord of the Flies mini-series just dropped? How did I not know about this? Will need to give it a watch.

That’s good to hear. Hope the rest of the book and remainder of the series is as enjoyable 🙂

Hmm interesting, never thought about jumping into one of the podcasts. That could be a good shout, thanks.

Thank you. I’ll try my best to avoid spoilers, and if there’s anything I need to know I’ll give someone a shout.

I’ll be honest, I don’t know if I’ve ever encountered a fandom that’s so helpful and welcoming. I appreciate it 🙂

Thank you. I’m enjoying the very early stages

If it’s a world I enjoy I don’t mind a little slower pacing, so I’m not particularly worried about it. It’ll no doubt take me a while to get through the series. I’ll take my time and enjoy it as it comes

Thanks. It’ll be a while before I get there, but I’ll take it as it comes, and tbh I don’t mind a slow burn. Enjoying what little I’ve read so far

Thank you. I have heard some say there’s a bit of a slog in the middle, but what I’ve heard about the series as a whole has been positive

I know. I’ve been intimidated at the length of the series for too long. But it’s time.

After putting it off for years, I’m finally starting my Wheel of Time journey. Just picked up The Eye of the World. Enjoying what I’ve read so far. Who’s read it? What do you think?

I’ve been on a bit of a Scots reading binge recently. It’s been fantastic. This country has produced so many talented authors.

The Young Team by Graeme Armstrong has been a particular highlight 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

One for my writer friends out there. As long as the chapter works, to hell with the length.

Book 5 and there’s still no let up. This series has been so much fun, and this instalment has been no different.
