Yes. I think mum knew. She loved life. She had a second stroke a week after the first, which took speech away. As she lay dying she shed a couple of tears, looking at us. And that night struggled most horrifically for 6 hours. The next day she was settled and in the end died peacefully.

That’s so true. We’d been friends since we were 10 years old.
Apart from that call, the hardest call I’ve ever had was when her other daughter called me from abroad. I just told her her mum loved her. That she was a special, beautiful girl. She had to be sedated on the flight home
5 years ago I picked up my phone to hear that my friend had gone missing. In my mind I was already half way up the motorway. But then the next words were, “her body was found…” How can my friend be a just body? I was all alone in the house. But to be honest, that was probably for the best
