Owl looking down from a thick eucalyptus branch
Tonight on our walk we had a visitor (tho we may been the visitors).

I love this! My students have listened to me rant about evaporative losses & potential power for years, in the last two i can show examples like this.
Excited to attend the ribbon-cutting for the next segment of California’s solar canal initiative later this month in Hickman. Imagine generating solar power over 4,000 miles or so canals across the state. A lot of Sierra and Colorado River water to save via avoided evaporation.
I LOVE it! We bought a cheap trailer, <$100, to make trips with large boxes & packages.
And yet you just voted to continue atrocities.
Sounds a lot like the bike kitchen in SLO. I learned today that one of my students has his work study there paid by the State of CA.
Cross Broad, taking Santa Barbara to the Morro bike blvd, turn right on Marsh, left on Pepper, and then you’re at the bike path to the mode separated path on California to campus. You’ll love it. Mike, Dave. & I take some part of that route everyday.
Gah! South is a hot mess. I’m so sorry.
You only need to cross Broad at the light to have mode separated all the to campus, save for the three blocks on Pepper, but that has no traffic.
Crossing on Broad?
This is a victory for the LGBTQ+ community and for our entire city. It’s a reminder that New Yorkers won’t let our history be rewritten.
Our administration will keep working to ensure LGBTQ+ New Yorkers can live safely and with dignity in our city.
Maddow: All the people who came out to protest at Stonewall when the Trump administration pulled down the pride flag, "today you won."
Thank you both for the updates! As someone born & raised in Burien (& whose mother still lives there). I love getting news about the new city council changes.
I often feel completely powerless. Yes, I go to protests, donate, make calls, try to help my community, and such; however, I have no power to do anything in DC (impeach, block, hold hearings, etc).
Needless to say my rep & senators got letters again. They can do things.
Same, but in Seattle. Education was fine, but having my favorite uncle die of AIDS when was a sophomore meant I was done. There’s a reason I only applied to colleges on the east coast.
The Women In The US Are Terrorized By There Own Republican Government. Ever Since Roe V Wade Was Overturned,
Women Have To Evade An Army Of Police To Find The Care That WAS LEGAL For 49.5 Years. Gutting Medicaid Made It Worse....
Bell peppers should never be on a pizza.
I love this. I learned lessons that help me collaborate, work hard, & more from sports.
Thanks for posting, I couldn’t bring myself to ‘like’ it.
I can’t believe the stated intent of the “special session.”
Holy smokes! What the hell??? This is a conference session?
This was a great reminder of the intent and challenge of protest.
Oof, wheels began to come off in the 1400s for me. I could get the gist (that’s all) of the 1300s & all bets were off after that.
WTF???? 🤬
I’m so excited for the concurrent grads to get this class from you!
I’m having the same challenge with env. planning. Plus, due to the semester switch they’re all non-planners. I’ve switched the first reading to discontinuity & dynamic change. I’m hope to make that the lens to frame the whole class.
A flash mob choir at SXSW just stopped people in their tracks—honoring trans youth and the dads who show up, speak out, and love loudly. “The Dads” isn’t just a doc. It’s a reminder: support saves lives.
Gah! This happens in the academy as well. It’s a good life, but let the new ones drive. I have vowed to be out before 65. I already see that newer faculty bring new ideas & energy!
Sir Ian McKellen performing a monologue from Shakespeare’s Sir Thomas More on the Stephen Colbert show. Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again.

Damn! It’s gonna stay hot for 5 or 6 more days.
This is shattering in so many ways. I’m grateful she shared it.
Happy St. Patrick's Day, New York.
