There will be multiple letters going in during the public comment period.
It’s hard to predict where these kinds of things will go, but I don’t think this is the final word.
…But I’m better at forecasting the ocean than forecasting politics!

Bonamici, Carter, Schatz, Murkowski Introduce Bipartisan Bill to Advance Marine Carbon Dioxide Removal We must do all we can to reduce carbon pollution, which fuels more frequent and extreme weather events.

A bill for funding marine carbon dioxide removal research.

The name -- ReSCUE Oceans Act -- makes it sound like we'd be rescuing the oceans, but it's hypothetically the reverse.

What can we learn from zooplankton? Meet the researchers using the tiny crustaceans to monitor endangered whales and climate change in the Gulf of Maine.

In the Gulf of #Maine, studying zooplankton offers clues on the whereabouts of the endangered North Atlantic right #whale, helping improve conservation efforts, reduce collisions with boats, and inform scientists’ understanding of #climatechange. Read more for free from @juliatilton.com👇

I saw this happen once in the Arctic. One whale keeping the entangled whale afloat for maybe 20 or 30 minutes.

A rescue team arrived and managed to cut it free.

Of all the different climate pathways, which one do you think we'll take?

This was a question from a student this morning in a high school class taught by @growinwsdom.bsky.social

I have probably 100 conflicting answers to this question, but I wouldn't be in this job if I didn't still have hope.

Our part of the coast is included in that 60%. These events will become more destructive as sea level keeps rising.

Thanks to help from folks at @gmri.bsky.social , we're getting new sea level monitors in place to track sea level rise. Data is just one part of the puzzle.

Maine cannot accept the ‘new normal’ when it comes to storms | Keith Carson Extreme weather should serve as a reminder to keep pushing for policies that make our communities more climate-resilient.

"at least 60% of Maine’s working waterfront was either severely damaged or completely destroyed"

Writing on the storms of two years ago, Keith Carson describes how climate change has made typical storms into disasters. @maineconservation.bsky.social

After the US admin cancelled the $B Climate + Weather Disaster dataset, @climatecentral.org hired the scientists who ran it and set it back up.

Now the 2025 numbers are in: it's 3rd highest year on record and highest year w/o land-falling hurricanes.
