185. BLACKGOLD - E.P Phone Home
Was listening to the new Skindred and...much as I loved that original album before it was rereleased and still enjoy them live it wasn't for me.
Enjoyed this lot's unashamed nu metal schtick at 2000 Trees so thought I'd give it a whirl. Super fun Limp Bizkit stuff.

184. The Lovesicks - Not With That Attitude!
Excellent pop punk from ex-Grebo (if you remember them from back in the day) frontguy.

183. Kowloon Walled City - Container Ships
Hoping to go see them in Bristol tonight, so wanted a little refresher.
My brain is broken - I saw the contrasting images and spots before reading the text and assumed it was an Angine de Poitrine post.
Took the little guy to the park this afternoon and there was a full on electric jazz session happening.
No idea if it was a 4/20 thing, hoping it’s a regular fixture though as it was really *looks to camera* nice:
You know him, he’s a bit of a
Do you live in the UK? Are you registered to vote in next month's elections? If not, you'd better get a move on, as tomorrow is the last day you can register. Fortunately, it's easy to do online. www.gov.uk/register-to-... 🗳️

oh yeah, and tickets can be found here! linktr.ee/junkwhale
buying in advance truly does help shows like this happen. seeing so many DIY shows cancelled lately due to low ticket sales because venues, promoters, bands cannot afford to do them at a loss 💔

I called Octopus Energy last year and their hold system said "while you wait, here's a song we think you'll like" and then played me the whole of Elton John's original Candle In The Wind.
Unhinged.
And the woman did speak unto the hound, saying, What do you mean, normal men, and the hound answered the woman, saying, We are just innocent men. And great was her emotion
182. Wombo - Danger In Fives
Wonky art indie á la Speedy Ortis / Foyer Red. Lovely weirdness that'll need a few more listens to get my brain around.
181. Godhead - nothingness
A friend posted about their singer this week. I loved 2000 Years of Human Error when it came out, little goth wannabe that I was, but had never listened to anything else they did.
This was fine, I suppose. Can't imagine I'd ever go back for another listen.
Hannibal 1:1
Bluesky post from Stephen King: Patton Oswalt is going to read the third book in the Talisman trilogy. OTHER WORLDS THAN THESE will be out in October. I'm totally stoked that he agreed to do it. Spoiler alert: There's a character in the book who's a stand-up comedian. His name is... Payton Orville. Coincidence? I think not.
For a second there I didn’t get that this was audiobook news. Thought Steve was just hyped that Patton was going to check out his work.
I keep forgetting about, and then being delighted by, Joel’s egg #taskmaster
NOW SHH IT'S TASKS #taskmaster
Also, I would like a go on a t-shirt cannon please.
Catching up on Taskmaster - is it me, or does Armando clap really weirdly?
Steamed Hams full transcript Well, Seymour, I made it- despite your directions. Ah. Superintendent Chalmers. Welcome. - I hope you're prepared for an unforgettable luncheon. - Yeah. Oh, egads! My roast is ruined. But what if I were to purchase fast food and disguise it as my own cooking? Delightfully devilish, Seymour. Ah- Skinner with his crazy explanations The superintendent's gonna need his medication When he hears Skinner's lame exaggerations There'll be trouble in town tonight Seymour! Superintendent, I was just- uh, just stretching my calves on the windowsill. Isometric exercise. Care to join me? Why is there smoke coming out of your oven, Seymour? Uh- Oh. That isn't smoke. It's steam. Steam from the steamed clams we're having. Mmm. Steamed clams. Whew. Superintendent, I hope you're ready for mouthwatering hamburgers. I thought we were having steamed clams. D'oh, no. I said steamed hams. That's what I call hamburgers. You call hamburgers steamed hams? Yes. It's a regional dialect. - Uh-huh. Uh, what region? - Uh, upstate New York. Really. Well, I'm from Utica, and I've never heard anyone use the phrase "steamed hams. " Oh, not in Utica. No. It's an Albany expression. I see. You know, these hamburgers are quite similar to the ones they have at Krusty Burger. Oh, no. Patented Skinner burgers. Old family recipe. - For steamed hams. - Yes. Yes. And you call them steamed hams despite the fact that they are obviously grilled. Ye- You know, the- One thing I should- - Excuse me for one second. - Of course. Well, that was wonderful. A good time was had by all. I'm pooped. Yes. I should be- Good Lord! What is happening in there? - Aurora borealis. - Uh- Aurora borealis at this time of year at this time of day in this part of the country localized entirely within your kitchen? - Yes. - May I see it? No. Seymour. ! The house is on fire. ! No, Mother. It's just the northern lights. Well, Seymour, you are an odd fellow but I must say you steam a good ham.
Today is officially the 30th anniversary of Steamed Hams. On April 14, 1996, "22 Short Films About Springfield" aired for the first time!

BBC IPlayer showing me a trailer for the Snooker World Championship, like it’s not already in our diaries. Tsk tsk.
A poster for Oxygen Thief, Non Canon and MEG at Old Road Tavern, Folk Festival Weekend, Friday 22nd May. 8pm
Another gig! I'm heading down the (old) road to Chippenham to play a double header of acoustic sets during their folk festival.
I haven't done many both-projects-at-one-show outings, but have really enjoyed it when I get the chance.
Pay-what-you-want on the night.
180. Bug Day - Anything Is Better Than...
Arty weird noise. Their older stuff was a bit midwest emo, but they've gradually got more jazzy Mr Bungle-type noise as time goes on. Good stuff.

Katacombs (a female singer songwriter) playing on stage, lit mainly in blue.
Dave Hause (a male singer songwriter) plays on stage. The lights are pink and blue.
Frank Turner (a white male singer songwriter) plays on stage. There are church sermon display type boards on either side of him with the number 3138 the date 12th April and Bristol written on. They also have the design of a campfire on. The lights are white and red.

A lovely night out with @ryanisugly.bsky.social, who had seen FT’s first Bristol solo show (#93) so is cooler than me. Full band gigs are great, but I love the purity of the solo acoustic shows.
Shooting a music video tomorrow for the 1st song to be released from my 3rd album…
If anyone is around during the day on Monday in Swindon, we might even need some extras!

And before he puffed away, Gordon said, "Don't play around with the trucks, Edward. It isn't wrong, but we just don't do it."
Erm, what?
