Definitely not the same. This is a very conservative trend disguising itself as “old money” or whatever style where personal expression is completely turned off and it’s almost like they’re all wearing a uniform.

Yes it’s actually depressing. They’re being pilled so hard into conservative, evangelical ideology and I don’t think they realize it. All this “clean” and “toned down” approach to style and expression is deeply political.

You’re free to be miserable because a 2-minute trailer doesn’t cover the entirety of the season to come. You can be miserable because the protagonist for a book titled vampire lestat is…the vampire lestat. Hell you can even be miserable just because some folks are happy.

Here’s an extremely “book-accurate” lestat if you’re paying attention to that. He says “I am immortal” with this deep pain of realization on his face. This is a different immortality. Far beyond the immortality of a vampire. And it is a terrifying, heartbreaking truth for him.

Interview with the vampire fed my little heart when I was a lonely teen. The vampire lestat exploded it right out of my chest. And now here it nearly is.
