Nobel Peace Prize 1986 The Nobel Peace Prize 1986 was awarded to Elie Wiesel "for being a messenger to mankind: his message is one of peace, atonement and dignity"

"We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented. Sometimes we must interfere."

- Elie Wiesel

This is it, right here, right now. The whole game.

All his voter suppression, gerrymandering, and other election cheating has led to this.

If Trump takes over elections, it’s game over for democracy in the United States.

If the people aren’t willing to shut down the country over this, it’s over.

Homelessness on the Rise in Finland - Y-Säätiö Asunnottomien ihmisten määrä on kääntynyt kasvuun. Nyt asunnottomien määrä kasvoi Helsingissä, vaikka asunnottomia asutettiin vuoden aikana vaikuttava määrä.

Sadly the current right-wing coalition government in Finland has foolishly cut the funding for the nation’s “Housing First” success story, and homelessness is predictably now on the rise again. That just reinforces the fact that such programs work, if lazy political ideology doesn’t get in the way.

ICE is detaining children and sending them to Hell camps. Shindlers list comes to mind. ICE will not allow any inspection of the concentration camps. This is child abduction and child abuse! Anyone with children should imagine the terror ! The boy kept asking if he could just go home!!

I’m aware that some are unfollowing me because I’m posting “political” things (that’s a bizarre word for the evil and insanity that’s happening).

To each their own.

I find it surreal that other urbanists are just posting normal city-building content like everything’s normal. It sure as hell isn’t.

I know it's hard to track all the threats to democracy out there right now, but this is at the top of the list.

Police mistakes happen, and they're big news.

But if you think about a scenario in which US Government is proven to be lying about killing its own people, that would be one of the biggest news stories of the century.

And it's happening.

And it's not being reported as what it is.

The newest video shows very clearly that they attacked him for coming to an aid of a woman that the agents pushed, and then executed him while he was immobilized. Everything the government has said, like with Good, has been a complete lie.

… Furthermore, according to two other sources with knowledge of the situation, top officials in the Trump White House reminded their federal colleagues in and outside the West Wing that Pretti should be referred to as a “terrorist” in written statements and public messaging, no matter his background

When they lie this obviously & shamelessly about their murder victim, a neighbour who was helping his neighbours and was attacked for it, when there’s video EVERYWHERE showing the ridiculousness of their lie, then you know for sure that they’re lying about literally EVERYTHING they say.

Everything.

Oracle Is A Giant Time Bomb With A Huge Penis Drawn On It
I cannot express how stupid Oracle is.

It signed a $300 billion deal with OpenAI back in September of last year that requires 4.5GW of capacity that Oracle does not have, and has taken on $248 billion in lease obligations on top of it. Oracle does not have the cash to support these operations. It had negative $13 billion in cash flow last quarter, raised $18 billion in bonds, that $38 billion debt package for Stargate Shackelford and Wisconsin has yet to close, and Blue Owl — the loosest legs in data center funding — pulled out of Stargate Michigan in December, with nobody else stepping up to the plate as of writing this sentence.

Here’s the thing: for any of this to work, OpenAI has to become profitable within the space of two years, and do so at a scale where it is able to afford $30 billion or more a quarter in compute costs. To give you some context, Microsoft Azure makes around $75 billion annually, and AWS $115 billion. OpenAI, in its best-case scenario, made around $13 billion this year, and Oracle will be charging it at least $25 billion in the next year if any of this compute is actually made available.

There is literally nobody else to step in if OpenAI dies. Nobody. Nobody is spending this much on compute. Not a single company is coming close. Anthropic apparently spent $6.8 billion on compute in 2025 (I think it’s more personally), and even in its wild “never possible to afford” dreams of $30 billion to Azure and tens of billions to Google Cloud isn’t going to spend $300 billion in five fucking years.

Every quarter, Oracle’s debt expands. It paid $1.057 billion in interest in its last quarter, up from $933 million in the one before, and $892 million the quarter before that.

In the middle of 2024 (its Q1 FY2025) — just before NVIDIA’s Blackwell GPUs started shipping — Oracle had $23 billion in PP&E. As of its latest quarter, it had $67.875 billion, likely almost entirely made up of NVIDIA’s GB…

This is not a situation where Oracle “works it out.” GPUs are destroying its gross margins just as its software business begins to contract, and its largest customer for this unprofitable business segment is OpenAI, the company that does not have any money and in fact loses it all.

The longer the AI bubble inflates, the more it seems like Oracle is in threat of actually defaulting on its loans and collapsing. While there are plenty of counterparties that might step in (and a President who’s very fond of Larry Ellison), Oracle’s current cash position and business setup is one that is ticking so loudly I feel like I’m being stalked by the fucking crocodile from Peter Pan.

How does this fix itself, exactly? OpenAI, Anthropic, they’ve got all the venture capital and fluff in the world to substantiate their nasty little games. Oracle is a Big Boy company that’s meant to be able to stand on its own feet that’s committed to expanding its physical footprint in a way that can never be fixed.

And just like the hyperscalers, Oracle’s depreciation is swelling every time it brings online any number of GPUs for whatever Stargate monstrosity it’s committed to. Remember, Stargate Abilene is meant to have 450,000 B200 GPUs, and according to one of the two CEOs that Oracle has, only 96,000 have been “delivered,” which is not the same as turned on. Eventually these fucking things are going to start dragging down Oracle’s earnings, and there is literally no answer as to how to fix it.

Hey Wired, do you want to maybe fucking mention that they're also now collecting information like your sexual orientation, whether or not your trans, and your citizenship and immigration status?

Kinda burying the lede with "Oh no they're tracking your location" like every fucking app does.

Reuters excerpt at the end of the article:

"MANAGING MIDTERM EXPECTATIONS

The president expressed frustration that his Republican Party could lose control of the U.S. House of Representatives or the Senate in this year's midterm elections, citing historical trends that have seen the party in power lose seats in the second year of a presidency.
"It's some deep psychological thing, but when you win the presidency, you don't win the midterms," Trump said. He boasted that he had accomplished so much that "when you think of it, we shouldn't even have an election."

Trump 'orders US army chiefs to draw up plan to invade Greenland' Donald Trump has ordered his special forces commanders to draw up a plan for the invasion of Greenland - but is being resisted by senior military figures, The Mail on Sunday has learned.

“A diplomatic source said: 'The generals think Trump's Greenland plan is crazy and illegal. So they are trying to deflect him with other major military operations. They say it's like dealing with a five-year-old'.”

That’s an insult to 5-year olds.

A dangerous and corrupt moron.
