Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream
A lot of people were surprised when I told them I didn't play the first Tomodachi Life, but I was a 3DS-less child, so I started with Living the Dream.
My original plan was to make mii's of my family and friends and see what carnage they get up to, but then I had visions of creating my entire family in the Sims 2: Castaway at the age of 6 and subsequently traumatising myself by watching Sims of my parents and sister get swept away. I cried. A lot. Had nightmares about storms and shipwrecks for weeks after.
You may think 'Loz this is absolutely not the same as the Sims 2 incident that's a bit dramatic', to which I say 'I don't care and also the prospect of having Bob Mortimer and Paul Whitehouse on an island with the PG Tips monkey and Cunty Regirock With a Handbag was too tempting.'
The draft of the Tomodachi Life part of 2026 Lozza's Year in Gaming is going well so far

Interesting that the same organisation who not so long ago failed to protect 2 Black actors and a man with Tourette's by making sure he was conveniently positioned in front of a mic, allowing shouted slurs to be amplified and broadcast on telly are suddenly concerned about protecting their audience

The trailer for The Quiet Things is great by the way, and there's no reason the trailer should've been pulled. It's so performative to claim to want to platform games that discuss difficult subjects but run at the chance to stick to their word and support an indie title that will be so meaningful

You can't claim to 'support games that engage with difficult subjects' if you decide to pull a trailer you previously approved at the last minute, or can't do something as basic as wack a quick content warning up, or let the lead dev edit the trailer so it fits your standards like they offered

So games nominated at tonight's BAFTAs that glorify violence through shooting and killing people are perfectly fine to platform, but a short trailer for an autobiographical game about trauma, abuse and surviving those things that shows far less triggering content is a step too far??

1. This is an amazing piece of writing and a must-read/listen for anyone who cares about real inclusion for disabled people.
2. The article voiceover of @lozzagilbert.bsky.social's own incredible voice is perfection.

People who do accessibility as part of, or as the entire scope of their role - be the mentor you needed when you were starting out. Limit Break even has training if you're not sure about how to mentor!
We need more game accessibility people to invest time into the next generation of professionals.

YIKES I'm sorry
But also... they're so wrong?? I'm often more likely to play a game if an actor I know/like/think is cool is in it, in what world would that drive people away?

Realistically most people are far too busy and have their own things going on to care about what I say so it won't get seen by many people, but I have made this into a much bigger issue than it needs to be instead of just thinking 'ah sod anyone who has a problem it be reyt' like I usually do

Wrote a big thing about being a disabled VA (my experiences, advice for people new to the industry, what I want allies to do to make things easier for us) but I've been putting off posting it bcos I've convinced myself people are gonna think I am EVIL for saying things are expensive + inaccessible

Screenshot from Songs of Glimmerwick showing a lake surrounded by golden-leafed trees with a waterfall flowing into it while the player swims. My character Dee is perched on a rock next to the lake, but SURPRISE if you zoom in on the photo you can see I have replaced Dee's face with a photo of my own Where's Wally style.
Apologies for how chopped up this post is, I wrote it for Instagram and the bsky character limit is my worst enemy.
Also fun fact, mine and Dee's matching pink hair was completely coincidental so I think it was meant to be

This one also happens to have trans people in the voice cast, gender neutral character creation and customisation and a fab team behind it who aren't using any profits to actively fund anti-trans legislation (which is pretty easy to not do as it turns out)

If anyone's still hanging onto the work of the evil mould woman, here's a reminder that there are original stories out there that are FAR better and FAR more worth putting your time & money towards

Also worth mentioning because some outlets bring up Glimmerwick's university of magic setting alongside *that franchise* and a certain game within *that franchise* in articles:

Songs of Glimmerwick Is a Witch-Academy RPG That Gives Off Harvest Moon Vibes
I poured a full weekend into Songs of Glimmerwick's demo content and came away wanting more in a way that honestly reminded me of discovering Stardew Valley for the first time as a young adult, or (fu...
Press and streamer people have already managed to get their hands on a preview and there's been some lovely words from IGN, GameRant, 80 Level and others. I can't wait to see more people play it (and play it myself)

The public demo is out TOMORROW!
I love a fantasy RPG and I know SoG will be no exception. It's visually gorgeous, has a stunning soundtrack, creative spell system (Ocarina of Time fans rejoice) and an intriguing story set in a lively world filled with characters who big and small are all voiced.

Graphic announcing that I will be in Songs of Glimmerwick! On a starry background there is the text "I'm in..." and then the Songs of Glimmerwick logo consisting of a witch playing the lute next to a frog and a steaming potion. To the right of this is my character, Dee a child with messy pink hair wearing a witch's hat and a stripey shirt with boots is sat almost cross-legged while fixated on a green orb. I've made the graphic so it looks like Dee is sat on a cloud, and I am sat next to them on my own cloud, with my arms over my knees and also wearing a stripey jumper that matches my pink hair.
Mega excited to announce that you'll be able to find me as Dee in Eastshade Studios' upcoming game Songs of Glimmerwick!
Big massive thanks to @dannyweinbaum.bsky.social and the Eastshade team for having me in your beautiful game as part of this ace cast!
