Nowadays we're all so lonely. And we need to connect and also organize. My local Democrats (no matter where I've lived) are not a club, at least I've never seen them advertise anything that is just fun. Like maybe instead of thinking "write postcards" we should think "ice cream social" FIRST?

My moral stance is and continues to be anti-consumerist, but going even harder now. It's been hard breaking up with Publix but I'm working on it. It's nice to know I'm not alone!

The fact that Hurricane Helene wiped away my town and side job is really hitting me fresh. I could really use a place to go, see people, get out of my head. I'm trying to just enjoy my work and kitties and spending time with Dade. But I would kill to chat with locals and organize a bookshelf

Really good advice. Funny enough I have been giving similar advice and still melting down. I tend to feel everything very physically even when I keep it out of my head. Last time I couldn't breathe and this time I can't digest, apparently. But it helps to hear it from someone else

The CDC posted, then deleted, something about bird flu passing to cats, and there have been some mentions of it having a high mortality rate for cats & some cats dying from eating raw food. Of course if the CDC can't communicate with us, we'll have to piece together the info slowly on our own, so...

If it comes with a knife sharpener even that can really help, but if not, then...just buying one halfway decent chef's knife wouldn't be a bad idea
What kind of knife is it? Sweet potatoes are pretty hard so it helps to have a big chef's knife & sharpen it first

I would like to move more of my grocery spending away from Publix--and no Whole Foods--and more toward a mix of local markets, Aldi and Hopey's.
It's kind of about being frugal and a conscious spender but it's also very much about protesting via pocketbook.
I'm canceling my Amazon ads for my books and will no longer be doing Meta ads. I've reduced our fast food expenditures by 30% and I'm working on doing better than that. So far I've managed a totally low-buy year for "stuff": local and small businesses only.
I had a few Amazon cat food deliveries scheduled because we were having trouble with other deliveries during the hurricane. but I just canceled those. I asked Dade if we could ditch our Amazon Prime subscription and he agrees with me.
