Offloading? No Outsourcing!
There’s a crucial difference between using AI to support thinking and using it as a substitute for thinking. Offloading supports cognition. Outsourcing replaces it. #EduSky

Maybe #AERA will add a virtual component again someday for those who can’t afford expensive lodging, food, and airline costs.

The last sentence in Chapter 23: 2016 The Return of Artificial Intelligence in @edtechie.bsky.social's "25 Years of Ed Tech" book (www.aupress.ca/books/120290...): "Perhaps the greatest contribution of AI will be to make us realize how important people truly are in the education system."

I recently heard a university administrator say, "In 3 or 4 years when we can start getting federal grants again..." This statement assumes too much. Even with renewed funding, the infrastructure won't magically reappear for a quick return to pre-2025 operations. Someone needs a reality check.
Is there a list?
I do!

U.S. Department of Ed Office of Educational Technology eliminated, or at least has zero staff. I’ve referenced their work a lot, including many versions of the NETP. I was able to meet and interact with some of the staff too — hard working, intelligent professionals. www.govtech.com/education/k-...
Also, I love these tools and use them often, but for organizing even simple text processing sometimes is goofed by these tools. Example: processing a list with 25 rows and asking questions, but only summarizes 23 and iterations just never get really better. Definitely need human in the loop!
No solution, but I have experienced the same. In fact, with ChatGPT and Claude, I see it choke on files and requests claiming that files are too big, or a chat is too long, when it's within their upload limits and the chat is pretty short. It's irritating on a paid account !
