Hardly surprising that this comes from a company whose UK head is the grandson of Oswald Mosley, leader of the British black shirts.

Journalism has been struggling for at least 20 years, and I think that some younger editors - even at the "best" news outlets, struggle with setting a news agenda that a) does not wholly cater to clicks, and b) is ahistorical. They just don't know any better.

The Inside Story of Five Days That Remade the Supreme Court

"The following Saturday morning, Justice Scalia failed to appear for breakfast at a weekend hunting retreat in Texas. Hours later he was found dead. ... Had the court not acted with exceptional speed, the case would have ended in a deadlock and the Obama plan would have stayed in place."

The May 1 general strike is in less than two weeks. I believe it has to succeed for American democracy to have a fighting chance

Our feeds should be flooded with posts like this, but they aren’t

I truly hate when little Right Wing Hitler youth open their mouths and give opinions in their over sized fake glasses, that they think will make them seem smart ,on things they know nothing about.

But listen to a real farmer rip her apart.

US to recover uranium from Iran at a 'leisurely pace', Trump tells Reuters President Donald Trump told Reuters on Friday that the U.S. will work with Iran to recover its enriched uranium and bring it back to the United States.

Ah, so they're not going to take the uranium, then. Rush to war, claim it's about nuclear weapons, kill a lot of people, destroy a lot of stuff, and now it's clear Trump's capitulated on this

This section of the @washingtonpost.com really captures why women are enraged right now and how the system keeps allowing women to die and be assaulted. I’m HOT today so here’s a thread explaining why.

Truly remarkable how many people have told the Pope, in some way or another, to "shut up and dribble." Or corrected him on the Bible, despite their thin education on theology. Or told him to stay out of US affairs, despite him being a US citizen. The hubris is amazing.

Nice piece. Thank you for adding your voice to the debate. You might be pleasantly surprised at how many of my students are receptive to my pitch about "if you want to get better at things you care about, don't use AI." The hype from the tech bros can be overwhelming, but there is an alternative.

Last week, I saw a student nodding off in class. She caught herself, reached into her bag and pulled out a small container. She unscrewed the lid and held it under her nose, and that apparently revived her. I asked her after class what it was she sniffed and she told me: this.

I'm really proud of Pengya, who defended her dissertation today so very well. She passed with no revisions needed! Also grateful to her co-supervisor, Sonny Rosenthal, and the committee members.

WTF NYT? Is this really what you think your readers want to see? Or is it just a hat-tip to Bezos as his journalism project craters?

I've studied so many concentration camps through history that held vulnerable people in just this kind of crowded squalor. You demonize people, you demand more arrests, this is what you get. It already has its own budget and its own momentum, and is on track to go much further, unless we stop it.
