Too busy with Tomodachi Life tbh

Yeah that's how it always seems to go, right?
It's hard to shake that nagging feeling that you can do better. Regarding your art thoughβ€”I don't think you have much to worry about. Best of luck!

Lol that's very kind, thank you

Yeah, you're absolutely right. If I want to make something that looks better, there's always the next comic

Thanks for the recommendations :-)
I have looked at Lackadaisy as a source of inspiration, yeah. I love Thank Goodness You're Here but, if I remember right, the intro has more of a 1960s English vibe. Another interesting setting in its own right, but not all too similar

Thanks :-)

I am familiar with Lackadaisy, yeah. I think that's a great example of a piece of media that captures the look of an era incredibly well.
It might seem silly, but that immersion is very important to me with this comic. I might have a style over substance problem, but I guess I have time.

It doesn't matter how much research I've done--it doesn't *feel* like 1930s New York. I don't have the skill yet to capture that look properly

Bit of reflection:
So far, I think my comic is fine as a product. It's easy to read, the art is passable, etc.
I think it fails as a period piece. It isn't immersive, and it doesn't establish the mood I was trying so hard to capture. If I ever make a second comic, I really want to get that right.

Agreed, I don't think I'd ever stop drawing completely. It's just what I tend to naturally do when I have idle hands.
I can't afford to have Starbucks or Monsters on a regular basis lol, but I may have an unhealthy dependence on caffeine. Comes with untreated sleep apnea

Thanks so much!
I'm glad you're in a place where making art feels fulfilling, even if it's not what's putting bread on the table. I think your art is amazing! Always a pleasure to see such great Daisy/Luigi art :-)

I haven't given up on them just yet. I think my dream has just shifted to "having the time to enjoy drawing without any financial incentive in mind".
Thank you, though. I wish you the best

Well thank you very much :-)

For sure, for sure. If anything, that hustle just made me crash out and want to stop drawing entirely, which made me realize that maybe it wasn't the right career path for me

That's probably the best way to view it. Right now I'm wondering "if the opportunity even presented itself, would I take it?"
It's sort of hard to say atm, but I'm not sure if I would

This post left my core audience of "five or so people who still put up with my bitching" in a way I hadn't anticipated.
In any case, I'm glad the sentiment resonated with so many people lol

Like if I want to reflect on something I've drawn, and I think it came out terribly, I'll be honest. I don't need to 'sell myself' or whatever. Maybe when I can get more than a few hours of sleep I'll even enjoy drawing again

Deciding that I don't want to focus on art as a career path anymore has been somewhat freeing.
I'll draw whenever I want. I'll hurt my reputation. It don't matter

A barbarian strawberry???

A fresh look at the sweet scented slaughterer in all his glory about to get gorey!

Thank you very much, Harawi :-)
Still a long ways to go. I hope you enjoy the rest of it too

Thanks so much, dude :-)
I hope the rest of the story doesn't disappoint.
(Lol major respect for that. Glad you understood the assignment)

Rarebit | HTML Webcomic Template

Hello--just stumbled on this post.
If it's any help, I'm using Diana's Rarebit template to host a webcomic on my neocities page.
rarebit.neocities.org
Highly customizable for someone like myself, with minimal experience with HTML

Thank you very much, Dane :-)
I feel guilty that I don't have any more to offer, but your feedback is encouraging me to get back to work.
Hope I can have more to share soon

Thanks so much :-)
Still a long ways to go with this comic. The website isn't as good as I'd like it to be, but I guess it's serviceable. No sense mulling over it lol

You're too kind, thank you very much :-)
I may never feel inclined to make a comic again, but I would like to finish this one at the very least.

Uploaded the first six pages of Escape from Hooverville to my neocities page, mariecomic.neocities.org.
The site is still a mess, so I'd love your thoughts if you choose to give it a look.

Being in the public consciousness is a scary concept. I'm not sure I was meant to be an author

I hope I never grow past the point where I can delete everything on a whim and become largely forgotten.
I'm not saying I'm going to do that, it's just nice to have options
