Many of them fought for funding, credibility, and a seat at the table in fields that weren't designed to include them. Their persistence shaped the evidence base we rely on today.
Women's History Month is an opportunity to recognize something we often overlook: the researchers, clinicians, and advocates whose work built the foundation of modern reproductive healthcare.

“Examining unplanned pregnancy and abortion among adolescent girls aged 12–17 in South Africa.”
Mifepristone, a pill used in medication abortions, is exceedingly safe, effective, and has the backing of countless high-quality studies and actual scientific experts.
Mifepristone gives us the freedom to make the best decisions for our lives and our health.
The state of Louisiana is suing the FDA to undo its policy allowing mifepristone to be dispensed via telehealth. Read @natasharoy.bsky.social on how this ongoing case could upend critical telehealth abortion care nationwide:

Period positive truths to remember: Affordable access to period products is a human right. Menstrual blood is not dirty. It's okay to rest during your bleed! Periods are genderless and language matters! Period sex can be fun! Talking about periods is NOT shameful. How was your period this month?
When we talk openly about periods, advocate for access to menstrual products, and challenge harmful myths, we create a culture where menstruation is treated with care instead of shame. 🩸✨

You shouldn't have to be pregnant if you don't want to be. And that shouldn't be controversial.
“These service members deserve their day in court, and the public deserves to know what is driving the ban." - NCLR Legal Director @shannonminter5.bsky.social
Late last year I covered the case of QueerDoc, a small, telehealth gender-affirming care practice that received a subpoena from Trump's DOJ. The subpoena was blocked by a federal judge, but the DOJ appealed, and the 9th Circuit is hearing oral arguments today.
The political attacks on mifepristone do not disprove the SCIENCE. Medication abortion is safe, effective, and important for patient-centered abortion care.
