computer crashed at the new place too :( it had one good day and then failed.
last course of action: reinstall windows. then if that's a bust I'm going to send it back saying it's never been properly functional since I got it from them

Screencap of a news post showing wellington hospital. The entire area in front of the walk-in stairs that would be pavement and road is underwater.
Screencap of a video short showing an intersection drowning in water that has swallowed a row of parked cars.
Screencap of a news post showing flooding aftermath and an entire car that has been swept under a bridge by heavy water flow on its way out to sea.
yeupppp
state of emergency declared an hour ago. so far it's been pretty chill on the rain and honestly I hope it fucking stays that way. the pictures and videos from 3am this morning have been insane
today it was like. several major roads, venues and stores are underwater, there's been landslides and slips closing roads, buses are diverting, and severe flash flooding has obliterated a couple of houses by simply pouring directly through them like a fire hydrant but it's fine (it's not fine)
asked my tutor if we had to cover anything important in theory class today bc the afternoon weather is going to be very very bad, and he decided we could skip it and do a long one tomorrow. turns out i was CORRECT bc the campus closed and canceled all afternoon and tomorrow classes lets goooo
i got a 1600 lumen cool white bulb with the phrase 'just fuck me up' at the forefront of my motives
I'm jonesing on doing art so bad but my only room light is crammed real close to the window and the bulb is a gentle yellow glow so instead of doing anything I keep thinking 'man it's really dim in here I should turn the light on', but the light is already on and it's bad. ad infinitum until I die
there better be a barely-open can of beans in there
ooooh i spoke too soon. there was so much water the entire gutter overflowed and started to patch water in around the garage door
very quickly moving mum's ancient sewing machine out of the firing line lmfao
of all the things wrong with this house I'm glad the garage doesn't flood bc gotdamn the severe weather this weekend is not playing around. all our stuff is still in boxes in there and the door isn't watertight - it's all the lower roof and driveway holding it off
our property manager was like 'it was made by some guys who were sick of maintenance requests going ignored' and im just here like well could they have perhaps decided to make it into not a worse process. could they perhaps have made it better. fuck you tapi ive never wanted to write an email more
it's specifically about my property maintenance BUT. but. the influx of chatbots to literally any service to save time is so so fucking bad. sometimes they're fine but they're overwhelmingly in the camp of unnecessary at best and intentionally underfed and maliciously stupid at worst
I can see it being helpful for some things, since it asks for some details you don't think about or might forget to mention, but they're very particular things that might require a deeper investigation such as wall damage or water pressure, and not 'the kitchen tap just fucking needs a new washer'
can we perhaps not have to submit maintenance requests exclusively through an AI chatbot. can we simply not do that. there's a lot of things wrong with this place that need looking at and I'd prefer not to play 20 questions with an obtuse robot trying to figure out how the kitchen tap is leaking
ok the good news is the piss smell went away once they replaced the entire rotted-wood-frame front hall window. the bad news is the guys who did it also removed the washing line and then vanished without replacing it. the entire hallway and a bit up the stairs is coated in a fine dust
we don't buy the modem, the isp sends the one that provides their service. so we didn't know it was gonna be That one, and I think we're on some sort of minimum term contract with them (I wasn't the one to set that up). it's fine once the setting up is done, just, augh. negative reviews all around
it was very VERY brave to pop up with 'how was your setup experience' afterwards. well let me tell you, orbi app survey with a Very Frustrating option. let me tell you how much i do not want to be installing a third party app and creating a login, which all requires internet, just to get internet
wifi is set up! it only took waiting on a missing cable, making an account via a third party app relating to the modem and not our isp, scanning a QR code, setting up the network, letting the modem connect to its own special wifi, making a couple other logins, and then changing the network name
I can't even find a direct source, it's just vaguely There when not aired out. it might be the hall which has lino flooring, but I'll be doing a very unfortunate sniff test around the carpet later :[
my room smells of stale cat piss :/ this is a no pets property
we can't tell if the previous tenants did this and inspection glossed over it somehow, or if management deemed it an adequate level of fix. guess we'll find out when we start sending in a parade of maintenance requests lmaooo
we keep discovering bewildering and fucked up things about the new place thats mostly 'did the previous tenants really live w this' and 'how do you fuck up taking out 3M hooks on such a widespread scale' and 'did they seriously paint over wall damage from leaks to hide it from property management'
I have such a small amount of stuff it didn't even fill the movers' smallest truck lmao
all moved!
Caterpillars (plus plant) dropped off the other day. the butterfly flapping around was still laying eggs, so if they all survive the cyclone this weekend they ought to be fine
worth getting up before 5.30 in the stupid morning for course, just to live with someone who knows how to clean a toilet and put rubbish in the bin. horrifying that that's where I'm at, but,

I do have some squishable stuff, all the leftover upholstery foam, but others are huge rolls of EVA foam that can only be rolled into upright tube form, and now TWO deathclaw heads that definitely cannot be wrangled other than Extremely Gently
one week left until moving and I feel simultaneously prepared and out of my depth @_@ I don't have very many things! but it's all the cosplay stuff that does not fit in any boxes that's vexing me
i think its meant to be wood texture. it saves time and combines the scrote and the wood into one single item to shove in your mouth
