Ah, the fragility of ceramic. I just had porcelain clay warp during the glaze fire that was a perfect fit after the bisque fire.

Patience and persistence is truly a virtue I applied to this remake of a broken mug. So I don’t often make mugs and it took 4 tries until I was satisfied. The new owner was completely happy too. And a bonus, I used kintsugi to repair the broken mug which is now a pencil holder.

Slip trail plates

I worry about timing the leather hard stage. I do make my own slip to match the clay body, but haven’t tried the liner since these plates I made in our early MC days.😁

So true. Next time I’ll try slip trailing to add texture.

This mug was inspired a picture I took on an African safari and leftover clay from a nerikomi workshop. Thank goodness the lines don’t need to be perfectly straight.

I took a class in 2014 after I retired and got inspired to create with my hands!

I love the colors and it looks like a billow of softness that soothing to touch

I don’t like mushy clay either. Nice to have more porcelain options to try, though I still really like Laguna frost.

I see sio sold at blick. May give it a try.

Yeah, go back to frost porcelain, but I do like to experiment for the planters. Any suggestions?

GA red clay fired planters

Here are the glazed Georgia red clay. I love the fired color natural too. I only wish I made the planters larger since I doubt I’ll go back to using the clay body again. I really really prefer a smooth grog-less surface to work with.

Holding the rainbow pitcher

I was afraid the handle wouldn’t hold the weight with the pitcher filled or be awkward to use. I’m ok if an hand is used at the base to support the weight.
