The Point Live: Business and gas companies have their say on gas tax proposals. Representatives from the Business Council, Shell and ConocoPhillips are among those fronting the gas tax senate inquiry today, while the health minister lays out proposed changes to the NDIS.

Shell Oil suggested they were putting $1m into the Aus Energy Producers advert campaign because its adverts need to meet "Advertising Standards" "unlike those from The Australia Institute"

So @jack-thrower.bsky.social & I decided to fact check their advert

He's pathetic. And frantic. Things are going very badly, and hard as he tries to convince himself otherwise, deep down he knows it.

Governments who continue to send weapons to Israel,
who refuse to impose sanctions,
and will do no more than 'express concern' about this vicious, racist, dehumanizing and genocidal behaviour,
are complicit.

Someone who represents less than 3% of the population has Buckley's and no chance of knitting this Country together.

What a lot of hot air and divisive nonsense.

Jillian Segal’s plan to ‘knit the country back together’ As a corporate leader, Segal used metrics to drive change. As Special Envoy to Combat Antisemitism, her ideas are criticised – but she is adamant they are needed.

Does it include asking her husband to stop funding the highly divisive Advance Australia ??

Better NDIS? Free Uni and TAFE?
Seems worth running the gauntlet of lobbyists, donors and spin doctors, don't you reckon?

NDIS should never have been privatised. The basic private structure with gatekeeping role to access and public money privatised. An absolute disaster from the start. #auspol

I was worried about my friend in Wellington so asked if she was Okay.

She replied, "I live on a hill like 95% of people in Wellington", the weather is pretty rough though.

A big earthquake about now would be a bit inconvenient though.

Does Australia have a gas shortage?

No… we have more than ever.

Australia is one of the world’s largest gas producers, but Australian governments allow a handful of mostly foreign owned companies to export over 80% of it.

Did you know that 83% of Australia’s gas is used for exports?

Australia Institute research shows Australia exported enough gas in five years to supply the country for over 20 years.

It truly is quite bizarre.

At the very least the Government should be saying to gas Corporations, "you can take as much gas for export as you like but 25% of everything you produce goes into domestic storage and for local use and then building the infrastructure to accommodate the commodity.

I knew I should not have looked at domestic news. FMD ... 160,000 people in need to be persecuted by a Labor government. There are no controls to protect our data. And two kids placed with A SERIAL KILLER! This country really is the pits. #auspol

Palantir CEO Alex Karp was paid $6.8 BILLION in 2025.

Palantir itself only made $1bn in profit.

What is he being paid for?

It's certainly not for making money.

Bridget McKenzie is ridiculous.

If just on one occasion she came up with a solution, or even an idea to a problem or possibly the cusp of a future plan or policy, it may restore some faith in her.

Just joking, I have every faith in her continuing as a political shill & hypocrite in opposition.

Bridget McKenzie, who resigned in disgrace over Sports Rorts, tells Sunrise that the NDIS will only survive if we “stop the rorting.”
Extraordinary hypocrisy. From the same party that left the NDIS without fraud protections for a decade. #auspol

Power without accountability: The Palantir manifesto The problems with our tech philosopher kings

New, from me: Take the Palantir manifesto seriously, if not literally.
It reveals that our tech philosopher kings want public money, but without public accountability. This creates a dilemma for governments unaligned with its techno-fascist vision. 🧵

While there, he will be the keynote speaker at a $ 5,000-a-head corporate event run by former Minister for Defence Industry Christopher Pyne.

Fix the budget with more tax on gas? The world has changed since Pocock’s viral video A popular campaign to force multinational gas exporters to pay their “fair share” for the nation’s finite resources is missing the new elephant in the room.

This is total bullshit.

"Australia’s fuel security is now directly tied to the nation’s gas exports."

The gas giants are blatantly admitting they get the gas for free from Australia & that is acceptable to them and the Government?

Everyone knows they don't get anything for free, even second hand attracts a handling cost and/or an up front fee.
