A vase with freshly cut hyacinths
The nice thing about our rather random approach to gardening is that it's also random which flowers we can cut for the house each year ππ±

It seems so. The German high-speed train to Zurich was late so many times that the Swiss now insisted on it being scheduled 45 minutes earlier. So if the German train arrives miraculously on time it now needs to wait 3/4 of an hour before entering Switzerland π
We have the problem that we have both, wild garlic and lily of the valley, growing in our area. Foragers don't always know the difference and poison themselves in spring time π
German has the great function that you can just combine nouns to create new words.
As a student I shared a flat in Vienna on a square that had a large homeless population. We managed to massively increase our vocabulary by sleeping with open windows.
My favourite: "Du HundstrΓΌmmerl, du gschissenes"
Linen envelopes embroidered with a crown, a lyre, and a deer
The next three are done!
Comparison of tourism arrival numbers by the UN Tourism Data Dashboard showing the US and Austrialia. US shows a decrease in tourism arrival of 5.5% 2024 to 2025. Australia shows an increase of 8.1% 2024 to 2025
The UN tourism numbers quite clearly show how the rhetoric and past measures alone influenced tourism numbers in the US. World tourism still recovering from COVID and not even back to 2019 levels!
Linen envelopes embroidered with a crown, an anchor and a dog.
Friends of ours use these linen envelopes for guest napkins and have asked me to embroider them.
As I spent sooooooo much time on trains this week I managed to finish 3 so far!
Perfect size to work on when on a crowded train π

Now in a taxi from Berlin main station so I will only be home 4 1/2 hours late instead of over 5 hours. It will be just before 2am by then...
A total of 14 hours... I could have flown to Bali in that time!
Important to mention that all the on-board staff were super helpful and patient, always trying to help to the best of their abilities and systems!
Now another interlocking fault ahead blocking the route after Erfurt or something.
This made me miss my first connection in Nuremberg, the second one pulled out just as we arrived as mentioned above. Now the train has stopped again halfway to Erfurt as a safety protocol isn't working so we can't go on to the high speed route.
So in Munich I had to re-book as my train to Berlin was cancelled, the train I was booked on was delayed as first there was no train staff, then there was no train driver, then there the journey plan couldn't be uploaded to the train (apparently had to be entered manually)
I have travelled throughout the world but the chaos on @deutschebahn.com in southern Germany was truly impressive. The icing on the cake was the delayed train pulling out just as the delayed connecting train opened the doors on the other side of the platform. Increasing my delay from 3 to 4 hours! π€¬

A scuba divers making a hand movement mimicking the opening of a can of tuna. Found on: https://www.divinginfo.mt/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/HandSignals-MArine-Life.jpg
There is a reason scuba divers have a very distinctive hand signal for tuna...
I only found out i am hypersensitive to caffeine when I took a "normal" headache pill before bedtime to ward off a migraine. Spent most of the night wide awake and massively annoyed after reading the fine print on the ingredients...
In London we use Too Good to Go...
We should start an online search #whoisshaidorovsdeadpool π
It's always one of the best bits! Now they are just partying on the ice!
Shaidorov was just brilliant! And his fellow athletes helping with his choreo was also awesome! π€© real sportsmanship!
Same here, worked in 5* hotels in several countries
Just a few that come to my mind:
Eros Ramazotti -very down to earth
Ronan Keating -I think he had a slumber party with his kids
Eric Clapton -so unassuming he had breakfast in the restaurant and no-one clocked it
Boxers -wow, they eat a lot of eggs
A sign with the text: Autocorrect A little elf in your phone who's trying to be helpful but is in fact quite drunk
This comes up quite a bit on the Ankh-Morpork Times group on Facebook...
Very "Gooseberry"!
It gets even worse if you write in more than one language on a regular basis.
HR Managers sitting in reception before interviews to see how the candidates behave when they arrive is quite common. It is a real indicator of how someone might/might not fit into a team.
In the hotel business we often recruit for attitude before skills. Skills can be taught, attitude not so much!
Did you at least include a STP quote in your email?
I can thoroughly recommend everyone to watch the movie " Hundreds of Beavers"! That will explain it all π
A blue tea mug with the caption "I am not a morning person"
Thank you! And in my favourite mug as well!
