It’s the bullshit of “I grew up feral and therefore I am self made and you should be too” Or some variation I hear of that from my compatriots.

I am usually a proud Gen Xer, growed-up feral and all that, but I deeply resent a lot of my cohort, especially those who were successful and chose to pull the ladder up behind themselves instead of giving others a hand.
